Bikini Replaces Figure At Sacramento Pro? Possible New Trend According To Some

Pro Figure Loses A Show According to the owner of Siouxcountry forum. Is it true as stated below that the Sacrament Pro has opted out of the Mens Open Bodybuilding & Figure replacing them with the Men's 202 and Bikini? Interesting concept that I don't know what to make of. Here is some of what has been written elsewhere:

"For years (at least 4) the IFBB Sacramento Pro (which takes place in November) has had IFBB Pro Figure, not this year, it is now the 2010 IFBB Sacramento Pro Men's Under 202 Bodybuilding & Women's Pro Bikini Grand Prix...................."

It looks to me this is money related as the 202 and bikini are the cheapest men's and women's division in the IFBB Pro League for a promoter to have at their show.

Last year they had men's open and figure, quite expensive.

I believe it costs 2.5 times more to have men's open, then men's 202. I'm not even sure their is even a sanction fee for bikini this year, I know the prize money is the smallest of all the female pro divisions."

I find these conclusions and commentaries from the women's forum interesting considering other graphics on the official show website also continue to list figure. See www.npcsacshow.com. Is this actually true that figure has something to fear from bikini?
I know we can get a more official word on the subject here at rxmuscle.

The NPC portion has Figure, that's why it's listed on the second image.

She means for Pro I think,..

But they already took away tons of places to compete in fitness and now they are trying to cut figure too. !!!! AND NO figure and fitness IS NOT so Yesterday.. That statement makes Me BOIL... I do not want to look like a bikini girl, and I want a place to compete.. so get bent :P Look at the masses of girls who do figure.. Bikini is just new, so there will be lots of girls for a while..

Thanks for clearing that up.
Maybe Sioux will get the straight skinny about this from the promoters Ted Williamson and John Tuman or Sandy Williamson the head judge?

lol, Voland was merely being a super freak

For some of the shows I've bought tickets to this year the bikini competitors outnumbered the figure competitors. And the latter has surprisingly been down (not that we should be counting of course). The numbers at some of the shows were down overall as a result making the addition of bikini a wash by some measures. Of course last year was something of a banner year for turn out I believe. For all the talk about it being just as difficult training for bikini, and they deserve respect (which they do as everyone that gets on stage deserves some) it is interesting as a spectator to watch the broader impact (pun intended) of the changes play out not just over one competitive season, but lets say the next five or ten.

Bikini has lower barriers to entry than Figure does, so you will see more people compete in it either as newbs or as Figure competitors who didn't have the mass or couldn't condition enough for Figure.

The title is a bit misleading, Figure isn't the ONLY thing being replaced here. The promoter wants a smaller, cheaper, more manageable show. They've got it. I'm okay with it. It's not like Open Men are in danger of disappearing.

i have a feeling that the bikini girls will get more and more lean and muscular and might eventually squeeze figure out. and then another softer look division will emerge again. just seems like a natural life cycle

Unless there are some clear and quantifiable criteria set, I expect this will happen as well, and at some point there will be another backlash when we're back to too many bikini girls using drugs and getting "too hard", swinging back to this yet to be clearly defined "softer" look.

These categories are created to get the newb crowds into the sport - its easy money that lets women get into the whole beauty pageant thing w/ all the flashy suits and all that, w/ some aggressive, but still relatively short-term training & dieting. But as the category becomes more mature, it will evolve to 'harder' for a while - we'll have to see what they continue to reward.

LOL, I'm making a joke as to the comment that they will have a division softer than bikini since bikini will become muscular like figure....so what is softer than a bikini division and what will they call it? LOL
