2010 IFBB Pro Europe- Spain Sept. 10-11
Does anyone know the status of this show? I've heard that the dates have possibly changed. I was planning on buying plane tickets soon, but occasionally with over-seas shows, things change. Any new info would be appreciated.

Moors were the mixed Berber-Arab people who conquered most of Spain in the 700's. They were later defeated in the reconquista, and the last Moorish Kingdom in Grenada fell in 1492. At that time their dominions were known as Andalusia. The society was quite a mixture of Jewish, Christian and Moslem peoples. Because of the conquest, there are many words in Spanish with arab origins--alcohol and algebra (usually those that begin with 'al'). The Jews were expelled from Spain starting in 1492, and the Moors followed in the late 1500's and early 1600's, as the Spanish monarchs wanted a more Catholic society.
sorry for the history lesson.

moor can also mean the marshy areas in England (see the Hounds of the Baskervilles with Sherlock Holms as the classic tale on the moors), or to tie a boat to a dock.
But in this case it refers to the Moslem conquest of Spain. It's of interest because of the effect on society of such a mixture of religions during that time, and is sometimes cited as how a multi-religious society worked. It was not a paradise, but it did allow the introduction of much of the classical knowledge of Rome-Greece back into western Europe at the time.
