Falcons release star kick returner Devin Hester
http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/17...tlanta-falcons
The Atlanta Falcons announced Tuesday they have released veteran receiver Devin Hester, the most accomplished return man in NFL history.
Hester missed the first 11 games of the 2015 season as a result of a toe injury, for which he had surgery in January. He did not participate in any offseason activities while recovering.
In May, Hester told ESPN he wouldn't be surprised if the team released him.
"At the end of the day, I feel like it's going to come down to how my toe feels," Hester said. "If my toe isn't ready, then I can't fault them for letting me go because it's a business. I can't go around thinking I'm safe if I'm not playing. I do understand that."2013 & 2014 RX Member of the Year

Randy Gregory faces longer ban due to another drug policy violation
http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/17...ger-suspension
Dallas Cowboys defensive end Randy Gregory is facing a longer suspension due to another violation of the NFL's substance abuse policy, according to multiple sources.
Already handed a four-game suspension earlier in the offseason, Gregory would miss the first 10 games for at least his fourth misstep in the substance abuse policy. It is not clear if Gregory failed another test or missed a test.
According to the policy rules, a missed test is treated the same as a failed test.
Gregory has entered an undisclosed treatment facility and is not expected to report to training camp this week with the team, a league source told ESPN's Ed Werder. Whether he participates at all is uncertain.
Sources: Lions planning to sign WR Anquan Boldin to 1-year deal
http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/17...in-1-year-deal
The Detroit Lions are planning to sign veteran wide receiver Anquan Boldin to a one-year deal, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Boldin and the Lions, who need depth at receiver in the wake of Calvin Johnson's retirement, were finalizing the deal Tuesday, sources told Schefter.
Detroit had brought Boldin in for a workout last month but did not sign him at the time. After working out some younger receivers Monday, the Lions decided to make a move with the veteran.2013 & 2014 RX Member of the Year

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/17...ract-extension
The Seattle Seahawks have reached an agreement with head coach Pete Carroll on an extension through 2019, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Carroll's deal comes on the heels of an extension for Seattle general manager John Schneider. Schneider's new deal is for five years and is expected to place him among the highest-paid GMs in the NFL, a source told ESPN's John Clayton.
The contracts of both Carroll and Schneider were expected to expire at the end of the upcoming NFL season.2013 & 2014 RX Member of the Year

Darron Lee. The Jets have agreed to terms with Lee, as Adam Schefter reported. It's a four-year, $10.2 million contract. They got it done in time for the former Ohio State star to participate in the first practice tomorrow. He was one of three unsigned first rounders.
Cowboys face fine of at least $250K for having three suspended players
http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/17...pended-players
With at least three players suspended for part of the 2016 season, the Dallas Cowboys will be subject to a fine in the range of $250,000, based on last year's club remittance policy.
The league still is formulating this year's fine schedule, which is based on the number of players suspended on a single team. Last year, any team with three players suspended -- the position the Cowboys are in this year with linebacker Rolando McClain and defensive ends DeMarcus Lawrence and Randy Gregory -- had to pay a fine up to $250,000.
The fines are not expected to decrease this season under the new schedule.
McClain, Lawrence and Gregory were suspended for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy. McClain will miss the season's first 10 games and Lawrence will miss the first four. Gregory also received a four-game ban but now faces a longer suspension after another violation, according to multiple sources.2013 & 2014 RX Member of the Year

Suspended WR Martavis Bryant to help coach high school team
http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/17...ada-suspension
LATROBE, Pa. -- As the Pittsburgh Steelers begin training camp this week, suspended receiver Martavis Bryant is a few thousand miles away.
Bryant, the talented but troubled playmaker who has 17 touchdowns in two seasons, will spend the year in Henderson, Nevada, training and volunteering with a high school football team, according to his agent, Thomas Santanello.
Bryant, 24, is suspended for the 2016 season for multiple offenses of the NFL's drug policy.
Le'Veon Bell apologizes 'for being distraction' as suspension looms
http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/17...ame-suspension
LATROBE, Pa. -- Running back Le'Veon Bell apologized to the Pittsburgh Steelers for the distraction of his looming four-game suspension but was generally vague about the issue when addressing the media Thursday at training camp.
The Steelers expect to hear back on Bell's appeal in mid-August, coach Mike Tomlin said. ESPN's Dan Graziano reported last Friday that Bell's suspension is the result of missed drug tests, not failed tests.
"I want to apologize to Steeler Nation, all the fans and players and coaches for being a distraction to this whole situation," Bell said in a brief opening statement. "I don't, obviously, want to be a distraction, but this whole situation, the appeal, is going to run its course."
Jags' Robinson denies being under the influence at time of car accident

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Jacksonville Jaguars running back Denard Robinson said his car ended up in a retention pond after a single-car accident earlier this month because he fell asleep while at a stoplight.
Robinson emphasized that he was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the early-morning accident on July 3.
"If that was the case, I would have had a DUI," Robinson said in his first public comments since the accident.2013 & 2014 RX Member of the Year

Cowboys LB Rolando McClain doesn't travel with team to camp
http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/17...-training-camp
OXNARD, Calif. -- Dallas Cowboys linebacker Rolando McClain was not on the team's charter flight to California on Thursday, and he has until 2 p.m. PT Friday to report to training camp or be subject to a fine, if not worse.
The Cowboys have not released McClain, who is set to be suspended the first 10 games of the season for a violation of the league's substance-abuse policy.
Coach Jason Garrett did not want to comment on McClain's absence.
"We'll talk about that stuff later," he said after signing autographs for military personnel at Naval Air Station Point Mugu after the team's arrival.2013 & 2014 RX Member of the Year

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/17...015-suspension
Miami Dolphins defensive end Dion Jordan has been reinstated on a conditional basis by the NFL following a yearlong suspension for his latest violation of the substance-abuse policy.
The NFL said in a release that Jordan can join Dolphins training camp for meetings and conditioning work. He can practice and participate in preseason games once "arrangements have been confirmed regarding Jordan's clinical resources in Miami," the league said.
Jordan can become eligible for Week 1 of the regular season after a follow-up meeting with the NFL.2013 & 2014 RX Member of the Year

SAN DIEGO -- The impasse between rookie Joey Bosa and the San Diego Chargers will drag into training camp.
According to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter, Bosa will not report to training camp on Friday as he remains unsigned due to his contract dispute with the team. Bosa is one of two first-round selections from this year's draft that remains unsigned. The other is Joshua Garnett, the No. 28 overall selection by the San Francisco 49ers.
