Former New York Jets star Mark Gastineau, one of the NFL's most feared pass-rushers in the 1980s, said Thursday night he's battling serious brain issues he believes were caused by concussions in football.
The Cleveland Browns are close to signing linebacker Jamie Collins, and a deal could come as soon as Friday, according to a league source.
Re-signing Collins was an offseason priority. The Browns acquired him midway through the 2016 season in a trade with New England for what likely will be a third-round compensatory pick. CBSSports.com first reported the imminent deal.2013 & 2014 RX Member of the Year

Colts fire GM Ryan Grigson; Chuck Pagano to remain coach'
Packers receivers Jordy Nelson, Davante Adams and Geronimo Allison are each listed as questionable for Sunday's NFC Championship Game against the Falcons in Atlanta. Nelson is two weeks removed from suffering broken ribs in the wild-card round against the Giants. Adams sprained his left ankle in the divisional-round win over the Cowboys, and Allison injured his hamstring against Dallas.
Of the three, only Nelson participated in a practice this week, although he wasn't in pads like the rest of the team.
Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce has been fined a total of $21,615 for his actions during and after last week's 18-16 playoff loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, a source confirmed to ESPN.
The Los Angeles Chargers have agreed to terms on a contract with Gus Bradley to be their defensive coordinator, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Bradley, who was fired as Jacksonville Jaguars coach in December with two games left in his fourth season, was a hot commodity as a defensive coordinator candidate. He also drew interest from the Washington Redskins and San Francisco 49ers2013 & 2014 RX Member of the Year

Steelers vs NE:
Brady is way too much for the Steelers D. Hogan was open all game long, and in some cases uncovered.
Bell was injured with a groin very early in the first and never returned. AB was held to under 100 yards and Ben had a costly interception, and there was a huge overturned TD early in the first half. A fumble did not help the Steelers case either.
NE Dominated on offense and left the Steelers defense confused from the first series.2013 & 2014 RX Member of the Year

Sickens me as a Steelers fan to watch the Patriots. You give Tom Brady a washed up ex Steeler at running back and a bunch of 5 ft 6 wide receivers who look like they should be snow boarding and he has hangs those offensive numbers on you. Without Gronkowski? Pathetic.

Saints GM Mickey Loomis agrees with Drew Brees, says no rush to sign new deal
Brees, who turned 38 earlier this month, looked as good in 2016 as he has in five years, again leading the NFL in passing yards (with 5,208).
However, it doesn't sound as though there is any urgency from Brees or the Saints to discuss a long-term contract extension as he again heads into the final year of his deal.
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick said Tuesday that his staff is "deep in the middle" of studying the Atlanta Falcons in preparation for Super Bowl LI, and it didn't take long for one thing to stand out to him.
"The thing I notice most is just the team speed the Falcons have. They're either as fast, or faster, than probably what the average speed of their position is in the league," Belichick said. "They look like they're faster than almost every team they play."
It sounds like Jets coach Todd Bowles is targeting a specific candidate for the offensive-coordinator vacancy. "I'm pretty sure where I'm going," he told Newsday and NJ.com at the Senior Bowl. He interviewed Saints WRs coach John Morton last week and there's interest in former Texans OC George Godsey.
MOBILE, Ala. -- Clemson coach Dabo Swinney gave the ultimate endorsement Tuesday to his quarterback, Deshaun Watson, as he heads into the NFL draft process.
"I'm just telling you, if they pass on Deshaun Watson, they're passing on Michael Jordan," Swinney said during the first day of Senior Bowl practices. "I'm just telling you. I don't know what the heck I'm talking about; I'm just an old funky college coach. But Deshaun Watson is the best, by a long shot."

I hope he does come back.
Ben also has more rings then Tony ever will, and his stats surpass what Romo has put up in Dallas.
Again not a fan of tony, nor would be a good fit in Pitt.. Rather draft a young blood and get someone fresh into the system.2013 & 2014 RX Member of the Year

Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman doesn't agree with the possibility of his team losing a second-round draft pick for failing to disclose a knee injury during the season.
Dolphins DT Ndamukong Suh has surgery to clean up knee
The NFL and NFL Players Association have warned the Dolphins for "not strictly" following the league's concussion protocol with quarterback Matt Moore during their wild-card playoff loss to the Steelers earlier this month.
Antonio Brown's latest foray into Facebook Live was far less explosive.
On Wednesday, the Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver posted a 14-minute video from a private plane, this time to "quiet the noise" surrounding his career after a turbulent week.
"There's been a lot of reports, a lot of different people saying a lot of different things. You guys know the truth," Brown told his fans.
The Dolphins were not fined or penalized but were told both are possible if they have any future violations of the protocol.Last edited by The Solution; 01-25-2017 at 07:53 PM.

The Saints have signed long snapper Jesse Schmitt after seeing him at the Husted Kicking pro specialists camp in Mobile, Ala.
One of the guys generating the most buzz during Senior Bowl practices this week is Eastern Washington WR Cooper Kupp, who is proving his gaudy college numbers were no fluke. He could become a Round 2 prospect, if not higher

Browns and 1st pick:
Joe Thomas doesn't think the Cleveland Browns should use the draft's first overall pick on a quarterback.
"I would say you want to go defense," Thomas, a 10-time Pro Bowl offensive tackle, said Thursday on the Dan Patrick Show. "I think you need to get a pass-rusher."
Thomas would seem to be favoring defensive end Myles Garrett of Texas A&M, a player the Browns like and a player generally considered the best in the draft.
Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce said Thursday he has moved on from his feelings about referee Carl Cheffers' call in Kansas City's divisional playoff loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, and he apologized for the manner in which he criticized Cheffers.Kelce was fined $12,500 for his postgame comments about Cheffers, who penalized Chiefs tackle Eric Fisher for holding on an otherwise successful 2-point conversion that would have allowed Kansas City to tie the score. Pittsburgh won 18-16 to advance to the AFC Championship Game.
