was posed to be."cut or traded" not "cut not traded" Point is, Asante is not in the eagles plans, don't care what they may tell the media, I know otherwise. If he was, he would be in camp and wouldn't have been told to excuse himself thus far. Has nothing to do with "personal reasons" and I know that for a fact.
Asante will not be playing for the Eagles and thats my point.

The Bengals were a good team.then and afc contenders and at that point, trading him for draft picks would have been idiotic. Chad was considered an elite WR. HE is still considered a top wide out in game, top 10, and most any player or coach would like him on their team.

most teams have been "good teams" at some point in there history so what
second in 2007 the bungles were 7-9
2008 4-11-1
so again, why would trading Chad been a bad move for a teams going nowhere?
credit to wiki(2009 was a good yr- but 08/10 he was crap- top 10 WR you must not watch football)

First off, you have to have a QB in order to produce. Carson palmer, while a great guy, while hes had some good seasons, isn't a great QB. Chad now has one of the best in the league an one of the best ever. He is an excellent route runner and despite him being a somewhat lanky guy, is very strong. Him in that offense could very well yield a career year for him. Receivers success depend on guys who can get them the ball.
As far as me"must not watching football", I have played with some of the best wide outs in this generation. I've played with one of the top QBS in the history of the game in Peyton Manning and one of the top WR in marvin harrison. I know that without peyton, marvin would not hold the place in.history that he does and marvin will be the first to tell you that. I also know from knowing the guys I do, that Chad is a very very respected player as far as his talent. Even here at Falcons camp, there is alot of talk amongst us and veteran players about how big a signing that is for the Pats and a steal. The guys here and across the league know how good a player he is. Often people on the outside look purely at stats and not at the whole picture. Chad isn't Fitzgerald but he is a legit number one WR on 80 percent of teams in this league.

I agree. Palmer is a good QB but not an elite one.

i agree with the idea that Palmer isnt great, prolly average QB at best and i never sed Chad was horrible but I wouldnt consider him an elite WR at this point in his career. Now im sure he will turn around and have a great season ( i may even draft him for fantasy) but i still would have sent him packing if i were cincy. They desperately need to build through the draft. My GF people are from Cincy and they are HURTING.

Belichick: 'League wants to eliminate kickoffs'
FOXBORO - The new rule moving kickoffs up to the 35-yard line from the 30 is generating a lot of conversation. And it should. Those 15 feet could change things pretty drastically in terms of strategy, scoring and even personnel.
We'll get into more of the kickoff nuts-and-bolts later, but for now, it was interesting to hear Bill Belichick state unequivocally that the league wants kickoffs to disappear.
When a question was posed saying, "If the intention of the league is to almost eliminate kickoffs . . ."
"That's what they told us," Belichick interrupted. "I'm not speaking for anyone else. That's what they told us, that they want to eliminate the play."
UPDATE: NFL spokesman Greg Aiello responded to Belichick's comments in an email.
"(Chairman of the Competition Committee) Rich McKay and (NFL Vice President) Ray Anderson say thats not accurate," Aiello wrote. "They said the Competition Committees position was that they wanted to 'shorten the field' and that the movement of the kickoff line would potentially reduce the number of kickoffs to be returned. They said they are unaware of anyone saying that it was intended to 'eliminate' the kickoff return."CutlerAthletics.com

Knee surgery to keep Giants DE Umenyiora out up to a month
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Osi Umenyiora will not practice with the New York Giants for a while, and this time it has nothing to do with his contract.
The two-time Pro Bowl defensive end had arthroscopic surgery on his right knee Friday and likely will miss the Sept. 11 season opener.
The surgery to clean out the knee came just four days after the disgruntled Umenyiora joined teammates at practice for the first time since training camp opened late last month.CutlerAthletics.com

Cincy is an absolute joke of an organization. They will never be good unless the brown family decides to sell the team. They should have traded Chad years ago when he was at his peak and got a 1st rounder for him. And any smart team would trade Palmer and get something for him. They just shouldn't even exist honestly. They're the cheapest team in the NFL and the worst run

Kerry Collins joins Colts
As insurance in the event Peyton Manning isn't healthy enough to start the season opener, the Indianapolis Colts reached an agreement with veteran quarterback Kerry Collins.
Colts sources told ESPN senior NFL analyst Chris Mortensen that although Manning is making some progress since having neck surgery and has maintained optimism, the team's hierarchy does not believe he will be ready when Indianapolis opens the season Sept. 11 at Houston.
Polian had been talking to Collins, who had announced his retirement earlier this year, for several days before Collins agreed Tuesday night after getting the green light from his wife.
In order to lure Collins back to the NFL, the Colts will pay him $4 million this season, league sources told Mortensen. The sources also said it is a two-year contract with an unknown total value, but structured, in essence, to be a one-year deal.
Collins said he has been given no indication that Manning won't play at Houston.CutlerAthletics.com
