The family of Amanda Jo Earhart Savell, the fitness competitor killed by convicted steroids dealer David Jacobs two years ago this month, has filed a federal lawsuit against Jacobs' Chinese steroid suppliers, saying their products contributed to his "steroid rage" that led to her death.
Kathy and Gary Earhart of Plano filed a federal suit in Marshall, Texas, on June 4 against Lei Jin, whom the petition describes as a Chinese citizen in Shanghai with a residence in Wisconsin, and GeneScience Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd., also in Shanghai.
The suit also lists 50 "John Doe" corporations and individuals, all alleged co-conspirators "in the scheme to illegally produce, market, sell and buy anabolic steroids and human growth hormone," the suit states.
Jacobs was sentenced May 1, 2008, to probation for leading one of the country's largest illegal steroids networks, and was cooperating with authorities in a federal investigation, including giving them the names of NFL players he says he supplied.
The bodies of Savell, 30, and Jacobs, 35, were found shot to death on June 5, 2008, at his Plano home on Honey Creek Lane.
Authorities determined that he killed her and then himself.
The pair been romantically involved in the past, but she was not involved in his criminal case.
Jacobs received steroid raw materials from contacts in China that he mixed and then sold in North Texas and around the country.
While searching the house after the deaths, narcotics detectives found steroids. An autopsy showed Jacobs, an amateur bodybuilder himself, had a high level of testosterone and the synthetic steroid nandrolone in his system when he died.
Nandrolone, commonly used by athletes to help build muscle mass, usually inhibits the body's natural testosterone production, so the presence of both is evidence he was "stacking," or using multiple substances, experts say.
Bodybuilders and other experts have long disputed whether "roid rage" exists, but in their lawsuit the Earharts contend that it is "a well-documented dangerous reaction from the unlawful use of steroids."
"I used to run fitness centers. I've seen guys go crazy" on steroids, Gary Earhart said when reached Wednesday. "The worst thing about steroids is that they work. They also work on you mentally."
According to the lawsuit, GeneScience manufactured and exported human growth hormone under the brand name GenLei Jintropin, and anabolic steroids.
The Earharts' attorney, David Schiller, did not return a phone call Wednesday.

Roid rage "a well-documented dangerous reaction from the unlawful use of steroid" I guess the drugs know if you have a perscription or not when you use them so they know if they should make you go crazy or not.

I dont know why, but I get a mental picture of the douche nozzle that wrote this article, holding up both of their hands side by side with two fingers on each hand,
doing little two finger bends everywhere in the article where they double quoted points throughout this garbage article.
"Steroid Rage", "stacking", etc...
Boy it amazes me how perfectly normal, sane, individual transform into maniacal lunatics on 250mg a week of Sustanon..
Even if this were true, it looks like Savell's family doesnt mind that the conspirators that contributed to David Jacob's spiral into the abyss are free to walk the streets, " just give us some money".
Fuck!! Now I am double quoting...

GeneScience will probably settle but I would really like to see what the Plantiff's thinks is objective science that supports their claims. Working at a gym and observes a few nameless knuckle heads may work in an article. As John would say....where are the bodies?
Also, I was surprised to see GeneScience as I thought they only delt with GH.

Hmm I wonder how something like this would fly in court.
She was killed by a man, not this company so I'm curious how they would prove that this company in China was somehow linked to their daughters death.

I feel for her family, however;
1. Amanda Jo Savell paid the highest price, but she should never have been with that douchebag.
2. Steroids don't kill people, people kill people.
3. the Chinese don't give a fuck... they'll never see a dime.
May Mr. Jacobs continue to rot in the burning fires of hell.
May Miss Savell's soul rest in perfect peace
