HEAVY MUSCLE RADIO: Mon (6/28/10) 7pm EST: The Bros Vs. Pros 4 Champs & Tim Belknap!
The BSN Bros Vs. Pros 4 DEADLIFT challenge took place this past Saturday at Infinity Fitness in Farmingdale NY. This time around, the Bros took it back, bringing home $3,000 in total cash for the winners!
Christina Lafex claimed $1,000 and Frank Dominguez brought home $2,000! Learn more about these two champions on Heavy Muscle Radio!
IFBB Pro Tim Belknap stepped on stage in the 80's and people couldn't believe what they saw: Unreal amounts of freaky, ripped mass on a 5' 4" frame that made him look twice his size. Impressive enough as that is, Tim is also an insulin dependant diabetic who claimed multiple victories including the Mr. Universe, Mr. America, 2x Mr. World. Where has he been? Dave & John catch up with this living legend and tells us about his career as a bodybuilder!

When I first went to my first bbing contest yrs ago. I was told by a vendor about Tim. I have had so many issues dieting a being a diabetic. Most of which i am sure I cause myself because i am a perfectionist and freak when things dont go 100% my way...for example if I'm dieting and my blood sugar drops and have to eat carbs. If it's high your body doesnt really absorb the nutrients. so many times I finish with the weights and try to hit cardio only to have it drop 40 pts per 1/2 hr...with no R or H in body. some crazy things happen.
What was his contest prep like? I know all diabetics are different, I'm very fragile, for example today i couldnt get my blood sugar down because of the damn heat in the Northeast!!!!!

I wished I could have a conversation with Tim on the phone or in person. His experience would be invaluable.

Tim Belknap was a great guest. Thanks for getting him on.
Loved his stories of the good old days.
I always wondered what happened to him. Good to hear he is doing well.
How about getting Ken Waller on the show? Just keep an eye on your t shirt!

Nice interview with Belknap. I thought Dave and John were extremely courteous in letting him express his views and the 3 of them had a coffee table discussion.
Nice work!!

I hear you ! You sound EXACTLY like me !!!! Im Type I Diabetic and when contest prep comes around,i understand exactly what you are saying. When your BG runs too high, you stress that your Macros are not being absorbed, when you run low,you stress about having to eat Glucose ( Even though deep down, you know that 15g carbs or so isnt REALLY gonna do that much harm ! )
I theory...it should be pretty easy to control ! I get up the same time everyday, eat the same meals, train the same time,go to bed the same time,so the insulin doses should just remain constant....but it never works out that way does it ?
Im having real trouble with my fasting level right now ! Ok...rant over Good to see another Diabetic who knows what its like...makes contest prep even harder !
