Chris if someone is dieting and eating his carbs in the 1st meal, pre and post workout only.
his other meals should consist only from protein and maybe veggies?
I mean, isnt it a bit "odd" to have only a chicken breast for example for a meal? I know that to get full benefits from the protein source you must combine it with carbs..
I hope i made myself clear...

Hi Chris, what is your take on mushrooms, onions and garlic. Are they ok to eat in a Bodybuilding diet (while dieting), I really like all 3 with my chicken really adds some flavor, but unsure if they are acceptable while dieting or in general. Also this is just out of pure curiosity..do top bodybuilders drink alcohol at all, in off season, or do they just stone wall avoid it.

Chris, i know you hate "studies" but i've read recently that BCAA's and specifically leucine in high enough dosages will cause insulin to spike. Is this true? And what is the effect on the body of having an Insulin spike but not having a meal just eating 20-30 grams of bcaa or leucine? Does it just increase insulin release which will just lower HGH and slow fat burning but not necessarily cause fat storage because there are no other calories being taken in with the leucine bcaa mix?

the title of "Science Editor" at a bodybuilding rag is interchangeable with "Marketing sales man" there is about as much science in the articles as the adds.
BTW: Since you rebirth onto the scene why do you not write more? Any plans on a new book or anything new at Procard? I really value your interviews on HMR. I have learned a lot and more importantly you reaffirm allot of things I have been doing and advocating?
Thanks for your time

Wow, after reading all of your articles on simplyshredded.com, I'm a bit confused. But after days of research and planning, I have finally come up with a plan. It's gonna come out to 180 g of protein, 310 g of carbs, and possibly 40 g of fat. I don't know the meal set-up yet but it's going to be from chicken breast, rice, oats, whey protein, eggs, and occasionally milk. Let me know what I should change
Before I set it in stone for the next three months, I have two questions: will I still get near the same result if I go with 1 g per lb(I'm not 180 yet but I figured a little surplus wouldn't hurt) vs 1.5 per lb and possibly have to lower the carbs? Also, I think(I think) my path for being big and ripped year round should be an easier path than contest prep, so what do I get to bypass for not being interested in how I look in poses with tanning oil?
I'm cutting right now at 170 lb 12-13% bf, have no intention to do cardio, for the time being, my only exercise will be bodyweight training, and I can confidently say I have no problem with following any diet even low calories because I drink straight unflavored whey protein 2x a day, which is pretty gross to other people. Thanks for past advice and any advice you have to give on the current topic.

Chris have a question about post work nutrition. Right now Im 4 week past my last contest (got 2nd in LWT) and 4 till my next one. Im about 190 morning wieght and my macro are 280 protien, 140 carbs then on leg and back day I increase carbs to 180 seems to be working. I copy article I've read say now you should just have whey after u train then hour later have a full meal. Here is my current diet:
3/4 cup oat, 45 gram from whey
6oz chic, 5 oz yam
---train---
2 scoop whey
6oz fish, 1 cup white rice
6 chic, 5 yam
7 fish, salad
7 chic, asparagus
higher days just add extra carbs to meal 1 and add some to 5. What do u think about

Ron Love told me today that he used to date Lenda Murray back when she was in her 20s. He said she's about 47 now.

Chris,
Some people use Ezekiel bread pre-contest and some never do. Do you never use it with your clients pre-contest? If not, is it because you find that other carb sources simply work more effectively?

hi Chris
my question is about puffed brown rice....the cheap cereal at the store....says only ingredient is puffed brown rice 14 carbs in 1 cup....is this a fast digesting carb due to the "puffing"/processing, and if I am eating it with protein (shake) it slows the digestion anyway right?
thanks

chris does using george foreman grill cut the calorie of food because when ever i use it to cook steak , a large amount fat drips off, almost like the beef turns fat free.
