Ok I dont really know how exactly can I express myself about this question, but basicly the question is
if am full on X day,I ate just on the maintence and I eat 2000 calories of carbs on top of that,do I gained JUST 2000 calories in fat or that 2000 become more cause of insulin from the carbs???

I know from myself that eating big meals from protein/fat and from carbs are not the same...from carbs I gain more fat!

but here is the question if we are full on that day,and we eat 2000 calories from carbs(for example 500grams of sugar) do we stored only 2000 calories as a fat...
rememebr we are full, glycogen cant be stored..

from my experience if we eat a 2000 calories protein`fat meal above maintence and we are already full,we will store more fat than eating only carb meal!

REMEMBER here we are talking when we are full not if we are on empty so we can store glycogen

Mr Aceto, Cedric and Shawn are part of your Bodybuilding Team. Do you think that Shawn could beat Phil this year? What is in your honest opinion the thing that could prevent Cedric to improve and beat Phil next year ?
Cause let's be real, a LOT of people (including myself) would love to see either The Django or Flexatron take some Sandows.

    Default Final 2 weeks

    Hi Chris,
I have a quick question for you and I'd like to see what you recommend since you have this uncanny ability to bring all your guys in rock hard and dry. I competed a week ago (10/4) and in 2 weeks is my 2nd and last comp of the season - 10/25. I'm a rather slim heavy weight @ 6'1 and 220- 222 onstage. So last week I think I pretty much nailed it - an email to the judges got me the same response from all of them - great conditioning. I need more size (what BB doesn't right?) and this is what I'll be working hard on in the off season - I'm 46 so not exactly a spring chicken and these shows are my 1st comps in 26 years - since '89.

My question is this. I want to get those knarly cuts and feathers in my glutes - they have some visible lines / cuts just not shredded like Jose or Dexter.. I'm a lower carb guy-not going over 100- 120 a day. Would you recommend a couple of 3-4 day strings of low carb (<50g) days to try to get those deep last ditch effort cuts in. What strategy would you employ in a situation like this? Basically I don't want to lose any more size for the sake of cuts but just want to harden up what seems like the last body part. Any specific exercises other than the stair climber? I have a fucked up knee and it can't take steps but can tolerate biking and elliptical work. My daily calories are in the 2,500 - 3,000 range with approx 400 grams of protein.

I'm not afraid to suffer. I know 12 -13 days is not that much time but I want to improve this ares/body part.

Thx for you time . RS

its a matter really of drop carbs and increase cardio and "seeing" if that works....meaning they should come in more you just need be careful that u don't shrink....if u start to ( shrink) u can always increase your protein

    Hi Chris,

In your book Championship bodybuilding you speak of keeping your fats at 20% of your total calories. Recent years fats have become a lot more favorable and are advised to be taken at a higher percentage than you suggest. Having written your book in beginning 2000's, is this still the method you follow to this day? (this is for the purpose of mass gaining)

Looking at myself: 185 pounds. 3500 calories daily.
    fats 20% = 78gr (700 cals)
    protein 1.5x lean bodymass = 255gr (1020 cals)
    carbs: remaining cals = 445gr (1870 cals)

    Chris

I believe Rhoden can push Phil, what do you think he needs to push him over the top and beat Phil?

I believe he needs some more upper body meat in the lats, delts, pecs and arms. This additional meat will allow him to come in razor condition (ie Dallas 2012, Arnold Europe 2012) and still be big enough to beat Phil. Right now I feel like he has to be very full to have enough thickness in the upper body and that may lead to a small sacrifice to the super thin skin condition he needs. Some size, about 5 pounds will look nuts on him especially with crazy crazy condition.

Do you agree with my assessment, have you two discussed a plan for 2015?

    Chris,

Love this thread and the info you have provided. You're by far my favorite prep/nutrition specialist in the game. The showings and level of conditioning of your clients speaks volumes for your level of expertise. I could read your nutrition tips and advice all day and never tire of it. Thank you.

Recently I've been listening to Layne Norton and his take on diet, protein, carb intake etc. He basically goes against just about everything you promote and most of the common beliefs and habits of the bodybuilding nutrition/diet game. I honestly find it a bit arrogant, and don't really agree with it based on my own experiences and that of others that have done the tried and true methods for years.

Was just curious if you had an opinion or any thoughts on his values/stance on nutrition? For example, he pretty much scoffed at anyone thinking that carb cycling, and including a day of higher carbs gave your metabolism a boost. Or that meal timing had any relevance.
