Welcome Chris. Did you prep Jay for the 2001 Olympia? If so, what was done differently that year to achieve his best ever conditioning?

Yes I did. But, I cant remember what he did. Actually I do remember. I would say, we took a lot of gambles all the way thru his diet and he trusted me to take enormous risks; which paid off. Funny thing is, that show Ronnie was very very good. Jay had paper skin which really did not show up well on, say pics in mags. I guess what I am saying, he looked (in person) even more impressive.

Welcome Chris, it's an honor to have you here. What do you feel is the ideal way to preform cardio? (In the morning, post w/o, intervals, running, incline walking, etc...)

Diets; and Misc.Stuff
Thanks for the intro John.
Yes I have worked on and off with Jay since around 1992; from the time he was a teenager. He is a very hard worker as everyone knows. I believe Laura is in Toronto. Another super hard worker, And yes I worked with Victor Martinez for his Night Of Champions and GNC wins. If you recall he was 13th in the Arnold the year previous. His Arnold shape, I thought it was good this year even though he has gotten a lot of criticism. Thats bodybuilding. Its like making a music record. You have your die hard fans and then there are the critics who expect you to make a #1 seller evertime. In bodybuilding you come in at , say 90% of your best and sometimes critics jump all over you. Nobody hits it 100% everytime. No one. Ask Warren Buffett. He told everyone to buy stocks in the summer. And now he's down 50%. Still, he's Warren Buffett, the best of all time and Victor is right there in the mix.

cardio
Best time for cardio is before meal 1. It all boils down to blood sugar levels. When they are low from obviosly not eating during the nite, the body more readily taps body fat as fuel. I dont like cardio too much after training because tagging the session onto your weight training kills anabolic hormones...the ones you need to repair your body from training. Intensity; I have always preferred higher intensity unless the bodybuilder is already really lean, then he risks "running his body into the ground". At that point, I will have him switch to lower intensity cardio.
