    Unhappy More harm than good??

ok so its my second day of completely following the keto diet. and just to help myself track my progress i decided to measure my bodyfat with calipers. it turns out i have under 5% body fat. im 5'6.5'' and weigh probably around 153-155. Anyway i wanted to do the keto diet to stay lean as i gained lean mass. But with such a low bf to start with is the diet more detrimental than beneficial. just as a reference im not competing in a show or anything just wanna look my best and get BIG haha. also im a natty guy, in case you couldnt guess that from my weight haha. Just curious. Any thoughts?

EAT. as a natural, you cant gain weight with the same diet of a bird.

When cutting keto will be fine, but you need to spike your insulin to get your body to store sum calories now. Carbs are going to be a necessity....

so i guess ill just stick to a more simple diet- 5-6 meals a day, high protein, complex carbs each meal, and keep in the healthy fats. would this be good?

and if the time ever comes i can fall back on the keto diet.

You can still gain on Keto, just up the amount of food.
I am cutting at 225lbs with 50g protein, 18g fat 6x a day. I am sure if I bumped it to 27g of fat and 75g protein I would gain weight.

My insulin hates me and really enjoys storing fat for me. SO before I swapped to a carb diet again I would try this.

All about how your body responds.

i think im gonna try a more basic diet and track my weight and body fat. ill adjust accordingly. But im just curious. will the added carbs make the additional healthy fats detrimental since my body wont be in ketosis and as a result not taking directly from my fats as a fuel source? in other words if i up the carbs should i lower the fats?

use the same macros that you used for keto except add in carbohydrates for meal1 and post workout and see were that takes you. if your still not gaining mass than up your carbs to 3 meals and so forth adding carbohydrates through out all 6 meals. if this dont work than up your fats for all meals. if this dont work than up your protein for all meals usually 5-10 grams more per meal.( if this dont work than critique your training if necessery and if this dont work than gear up

With a BF of 5% you can get away with eating much more carbs and not having to worry to much about it being stored as fat. Basically, the leaner you are, the more carbs you can ingest on a day-to-day basis and the more frequent carb-ups you should use. The leanness factor is also applied to the frequency and magnitude of your carb-up

To stay lean, here is a guide "Less than 14% body fat: you can eat 0.55g of carbs per pound of body weight per day" and to carb up if you are less than 10% body fat: carb-up at around 1.25g of carbs per pound every 4-5 days.

Info taken from article below... hope this helps.

Btw, 5%BF I'm sooo jealous, cant wait to hit those digits!
