Thread: Protein Powder or Aminos?

I think the biggest concern is the fact that whey protein has calories while amino acids by themselves do not. So if you were to simply replace the whey with aminos, you're calories will invariably drop. Also, whey protein in and of itself is loaded with amino acids. I think each has their place, but it's not really a fair comparison to say which one is better. And when you start talking about adding in more whole food in replace of whey, that's adding in a whole new variable. I think many people would agree that whole food is superior to protein shakes, but the convenience and price of protein shakes make them very worthwhile.

I would never only use bcaa's is a incomplete protein. I use hydrolyzed whey and a eaa bcaa 30 70 mix right after my humalog. I wouldn't trust a supplement company ceo to tell me that only his products work great. ala alri. science will tell that.

For a while after I started this thread I supplemented with only BCAA's and got leaner while staying strong as well. I ran out of money and couldn't continue the trend . This isn't too much of a fair evaluation seeing as at that time, my protein supplementation was very irregular.
I think protein and bcaa's both produce phenomenal gains but the margin that BCAA's could be better is probably minute or relatively small. I will use them simultaneously and interchangeably as my schedule/routine requires.

I use Chained Out, Humapro and protein powder. Maybe its overkill but I like it and have no adverse effects. Protein, its a good thing.

Aminos all the way! Been using a swedish EAA product with Ajinomoto aminos for a couple of years with very good results. Right now Iīm trying Humapro and Chainīd out as almost sole protein source. Feels pretty good so far. Iīm done with whey.

Just did some research on HumaPro. Sounds a lot like BCAA's with regards to the chemicals involved. With that said are BCAA's (currently using Scivation XTEND) just as affective as something like HumaPro?

that's a bold statement...
i'd love to see you debate this with ALR.
i've been using several different brands of BCAA'a and EAA's for a few years now
and i notice a big difference in recovery when using them (as opposed to just food or food and whey).
Chain'd Out is really the only one that i use now.
i switched a long time ago to only quality whey protein isolates such as Isolyze and True Protein too.
i've also had very good results with my recent switch to Humapro instead of WPI.

Sounds a lot like BCAAs? Chaind Out is our BCAA formula that is bonded with malates to prevent conversion to glucose. Humapro is not a BCAA formula. It is the world's first Human Protein. With all the EAA's in perfect ratios and arriving at the cell at the same time...how could that EVER be compared to an inferior product that is just BCAA's?
