Pre-workout shake??
I'm just curious as to whether or not any of yall have a pre-workout shake and what it consists of?
I usually have a meal 1 1/2 hours before training and then a pre-workout shake of 60 g whey iso and 40 g waxy maize on the way to the gym. I'm thinking about dropping the shake and eating my meal a little closer to workout, but the only thing is that I don't train with a traditional split. I train antagonistic groups together. Mondays and Thursday are legs and shoulders and Tuesdays and Fridays are chest, back, and arms with core stuff mixed in. I don't have much rest time at all so my heart rate hovers around 130 the whole time.
I cut carbs out of every meal but breakfast so I need carbs before a workout to get through it, which is the reason for the waxy maize before workout. I'm thinking maybe I should switch to a different carb source pre-workout or just eat my meal closer to training and add in some carbs instead of a shake and some carbs.
What do yall think?
Thanks

i have a pre workout shake consisting of 40 grams of any carbohydrate excluding "corn syrup" - 15 grams of high quality fat to slow the blood sugar spike thus creating steady amounts of energy- and i have 35 grams of high quality protein (whey isolate)
(numbers for all macros vary depending on factors that i dont want to go in to)
