Nope, not at all.
Met Bill at his Illinois win and when he was at the Jr. Nationals as a spectator. Seemed like really good guy from the Chicago area and somebody I assumed would be in the running at the 50+ Masters Nationals. After checking the photos at the Masters Nationals I was a little shocked.
I also have some posts about Paco Bautista getting ripped off. I guess I've just been really upset by some of the judging going on. I was at the Jr Nationals and Hanshaw losing the overall stunned me! I was also at the Mid Western States and a guy pushing 70 with saggy boobs and folds of hanging skin for an abdomin beat a young guy dialed in? This was for first place in the open Bantamweights?? The old guy was as shocked as anyone and when he got backstage he kept saying "I'm the bantamweight winner". We thought he was joking. Later it was all the people in the audience could talk about. Tainted the whole show and became a serious black eye for Indiana NPC judging.

from the front he looks great. from the back, his back lacks width and overall development. his glutes are small and soft. hams disappear from the back. and his calves fade as well. it all changes when BB's take that 2nd quarter turn for some athletes.

Pictures don't tell the whole story. I have been at the Masters Nationals several times, & was amazed that some competitors I thought looked good didn't look as good in pix, & vice versa. Posing has been called "the art of illusion," & the competitor is always trying to hide his weaker features & give prominence to his stronger features. That's why the judges ask for so many varied poses, & do so many lineups. It is disclose the weaknesses of one competitor versus another. I like to think about who I would have placed in a competition based on online pix, but I realize that the pix don't tell all the story & whatever I like is just that--what I like.

You are showing me two different poses and comparing them. I'm looking at the glutes and the back of the hamstrings. Mr.Illinois guy almost has negative glutes and minimal hamstring thickness compared to the guy actually hitting the same pose (number 1 in the show)
Getting on stage with no hamstrings, I wouldn't expect to do much better... sounds like 7th at a national level competition isn't half bad all things considering.

GerryT has perhaps the best eye in the Forum. What he says . I watched the call outs and thought your man missed out on round one. His posing suit however was the worst. With the crack creep it gave him an odd dumpy butt look.

I think Bill looks damn good...Even more impressed that he won an open NQ show with guys probably half his age...
