What is your personal reason for being natural?
Hey guys saw on the site listed under a link to the Natural Bodybuilding section that said "for those who take the moral route"... is it always for moral reasons that people choose to naturally body build? If or if not, feel free to post your own personal reason for being a natural athlete?

- I don't plan on ever stepping on stage. My physique does not merit a judging panel.
- My test was 597 ng/dL which is okay for a guy my age.
- It's a big hassle to do it right, imo. U.S. doctors know jack about the subject and I really can't be bothered with the mess, figuring it all out, administering the drugs. Just too much of a PITA.

There can be so many answers to this question.
But lets take it from a competitors stand point.
Using roids leads to no advantage, period.
If you compete and you use roids in a un tested show, well, guess what? Most of the other guys are using also. So, why even bother? Its not going to help you win.
You can still reach the same goals not using.
Although and I am sure there is a small percentage of guys who think they will be the next IFBB Mr O. I dont know, but that path looks rough.

I look at it like this, back in the day I used to be involved with the whole Car modification craze...turbos, exhaust, inter-coolers, big stereos etc....the reality was the more you modified the car to get more performance or better sound...the more headaches you had to deal with...stuff would stop working, things would break...you where constantly fixing crap and spending a ton of money! Just a big mess!
I look at using the stuff the same way...most people don't know what they're doing and in the end you just end up spending a ton of money and you've got a big mess to clean up, IMHO!
Oh...and it's illegal and I have a moral issue with using illegal drugs!

Id have to say two things - the obvious, not wanting to break the law, and of course for health reasons - I am in this for being very healthy and active. AND - I just don't like the look: red skin, blown out blood vessels, distended stomachs, a look like they want to kill someone, (this is not everyone - but some)

No good reason. Just because. It just does not appeal to me, I do not really want that physique and I enjoy my natty shows.

Well I am far from being a competitor
But for the guys that are really natural and whose competitors are also
It is then a matter of the best training etc and not a matter of who is the best chemist

I competed Naturally for OCB back in 2005. Took Fourth in the yorton Cup that year on stage at 225 lb.s and 21 years old. Spent years training for bodybuilding but couldn't handle the diets.
I am currently into strongman and have excelled staying natural now as I just turned 27. I had an interview with dave on heavy muscle radio after the bro's vs. pro's deadlift challenge and said exactly what I'll say here about the subject.
I'm already 300 lbs of muscle..well....now.292 @ 13 % bf. My family already has a history of high BP and injury rates in strongman though no secret sky rocket with the use of drugs. As I said on the show..I'm not a moral blow hard about it...which is why the chasm exists between the NPC and natural federations...too many guys use the fact that they are natural as a moral high ground which is a huge reason y I stopped bodybuilding in the first place!
It's a choice...and we make it for our personal reasons...But Believe me...The IFBB guys aren't just bigger because they are better chemists...they have the magic combination of raw talent..insane work ethic..and many people supporting them along with a combination of supplements.!

I see no point in using just to win some small local show. I am not willing to take the huge quantities demanded to try to turn pro so I really don't see a point otherwise. I also am not willing to put in the research to run a safe cycle. It's a lot to worry about and I don't want my life being consumed by bodybuilding even more than it already is. I'm not natural for any moral reasons since I think steroids should be legal. I'm also not anti-steroid and I don't have a "better than you" attitude if you use. I am however upset with people who use and still compete in natural organizations and I hate the people who think they are better than naturals because they "have the balls" to inject themselves.

I like my job and my freedom. If I could use I would but not worth penalties.

I simply want to take my physique as far as I can using strictly my discipline and drive. I'm not against steroid use - it's just not for me - but I also want to be respected, not attacked, for building a good physique naturally.

I have no moral issue nor legal qualms with the drugs. I'm realistic about my genetics (or lack thereof) to realize that I will have little to benefit by using. What's the point if the best I can do is some free supps and a trophy every now and again?
