Weird Tales of Da Strongman
6 weeks...that's what i have left till i compete in Central Florida Strongman.
thought i would chronicle my training and life right here....
events for the competition:
press medley--220 log, 250 log, 275 axle
farmers walk--270 each hand 100' no turns
yoke/keg carry--650/270 80'
conans wheel--525
atlas stones--240,280,300,330,370 to staggered platform

been backloading carbs as my diet. been keeping my energy levels up. i have to clean up the carbs, too many poptarts.
planning to delaod next week in training. been hitting it hard for 3 weeks now. my body needs it.

Rob is guaranteed to get 3 of the 5 stones. I bet by comp time he'll have the 330 too though.

the stones are to staggered platforms 60-42"
going to have to shoulder the 240. going for reps on the 300 tomorrow...

hit events today. wanted something good before i start my deload tomorrow. started with log press.
140,180, 200,220 and 240...all were nice. decided to go for the big pr....260. cleaned it nicely, felt it roll up high on my clavicles, dipped ever so slightly and pressed. right arm locked before the left which felt like an eternity as i stood there. but i got it!!! hooray me!
farmers walk...did 245 for 100' with a turn at 50'. made it the whole way but my legs felt like jello. did this in 31 seconds. next time i am going with contest weight. think i will add some high rep leg presses to keep my legs under me.
yoke/keg. this was rough. i took 540 for 50' easy. the keg killed me. was too sweaty to pick up. threw on my sleeves and picked it up. by this time i was mentally done...made it about 20' with the keg.
finally conans wheel....250 for 1 revolution then 320. was easy even on the contraption my training partner devised in his evil mind.

ate decently last night....noodles and beef. took humapro and chain'd out too.
this morning i fueled up on humapro, chain'd out, coffee, and sweet potatoes.

Excellent training! Nice PR!
What flavor chain'd out are you using? I just picked up a jug of blue raspberry and I love it! Appletini is still #1 though.

thanks! should have seen me trying to get my left arm to lockout....
i have both appletini and blue raz. i switch back and forth between the 2 flavors.
