True Protein Review
Hi Guys,
I have been around this sport for a while and involved in supplements in one way or another for even longer and as many of you know trying to find a consistently good source for supplements at a decent price is tough.
A couple of months ago I tried out True Protein in the states. I was after a custom blend of amino acids and seeing that they had just added theri custom mix option I was keen to try it out.
My intra-workout blend is:
50% BCAA's
30% Creatine Monohydrate
15% Citrulline Malate
5% L Luecine
No secrets, just a very effective formula. I tried to fin places here in Aus who could do this but needed a minimum of 100kg per flavour!
TP allowed me to mix and match and get as little as a pound of each flavour which was great so I can rotate through pretty often. They had tons of flavours so I got a selection. Ones Ive tried and liked were fruit punch, wild berry, choc mint and may fav was watermelon.
Im not sponsored by TP(in my dreams!) but have found them to be great to deal with. Shipping was a touch expensive to Aus but still worked a ton cheaper than getting the ingredients locally. The quality was great, very fine powder and tasted great.
I got almost 12 months worth for myself recently and am almost out already because all my mates are using it too now!
AUS Customs: People have had issues but here is the breakdown:
You can purchase up to AU$1000 worth for yourself (including shipping) and not face issues, but avoid compounds such as yohimbine as these are a nono for customs. Others to avoid are high amounts of egg protein (10% and under is good) but whey proteins, amino acids etc are all fine.
For a discount code feel free to use PKD563.
Dante and Carl are really good guys in this sport and supply no bullshit product. The thing I liked about their products is your get the amont you ordered eg 1kg THEN the flavour is added, not included in the total. So unlike some companies where you would get 800gm product and 200gm flavour you get exaclty what you ordered.
A long post but wanted to give a review of a really great company.
Patrick.

have you bought any whey isolate from them? If so, how much did you pay for it?

I've heard some nightmares about Australia's customs keeping products or large fees.
Another option you have for a singular product like that is buying it in bulk quantity to get the extra 5% discount on top of whatever code you use and then order some flavor packets separately. It'll likely work out to save you a few bucks next time and allow you to tweak the strength of the flavor to your liking.

I did give their whey isolate a go, I bought the cold-filtration one. I only grabbed a couple of pounds. Got the choc mint and choc coconut. Loved the choc mint and was surprised with the choc coconut, pretty good.
Shipping is a touch steep but the quality is great and so are th flavours (big range). If you get together with a few mates you could get better shipping rates plus get 10% discount becuase it'd be over 16lbs.

Its US$8.45/lb so at the current exchange rate that comes out to about AU$21/kg. I have a heap of tubs now so got the free food grade bag for packaging. Shipping is a touch steep atm the moment but I recall Dante saying somewhere that they may be adding Fedex for shipping which is much cheaper for international (they currently use USPS).

Try sending [email protected] an email next time you are ordering and see if they have any other shipping options that work out better for you.

I didn't think you could import dairy products and whey comes under that category.

Quick google search found this
http://www.daffa.gov.au/__data/asset...mportfacts.pdf
I didn't read it through but just scanned over it. however
It lists "whey cheese" as a risk catergorised food commodity.
Edit:
Also found this one. havent looked at it yet though.

Aussie customs seems a bit hit and miss.
Straight whey protein (concentrate, isolate or blends of the two) is OK, egg is not (over 10% is no good). So products like Gaspari's Myofusion and Dy nutrition Tempro would be a no go.
TB-This is wierd because it is on Fedex list of approved products, yet people hav has Syntha 6 seized or returned.
