    Default Out of curiosity

So I like the idea of ketosis but hate the idea of gluconeogenesis. I suppose it could be avoided with a high amount of dietary protein but it also got me thinking in terms of forming a diet.

What if you kept your carb intake at 0 for every meal except one per day?

    Has anyone tried this?

I was thinking, the carbs from that meal could be anywhere from 30 to 200g or whatever is a reasonable amount to really fill you up accompanied with fats and proteins as well. This would also keep your hepatic and muscular glycogen stores full. Right?

And ideally, when would this meal best be taken?

Maybe post workout? Maybe first thing in the AM? Or as the last meal during the day? I find that even when I'm not dieting, if I have a meal with carbs in it I get very tired. So, in my case, i'd opt for just before bed (which coincidentially is post workout as well).

Please show me where I'm wrong. I'd appreciate it greatly. Thx

High protein diet = gluconeogenesis. Without enough carbs to fill your glucose needs, this process will take place. It is a good natural process.
What is your problem with it?

So what happens when you don't consume enough protein on a keto diet? Muscular atrophy. That's my problem with it. And the determined amount of how much protein is enough to keep your hepatic and muscular glycogen stores full is highly individual, right?

Correct, how YOUR body processes is only how YOUR body processes. If you don't consume enough then yes you will start giving up mass as your body digests itself.

If your protein and fat are where they should be or higher catabolism shouldn't really be an issue.
The same thing would happen with a carb based diet if input is inadequate.

Your body will adjust to the amount of food you put into it. Dave doesn't give his clients a lot of food usually, and look at Toney and Ben; they hold their size on limited food and a ton of cardio. On paper, it would seem like something to worry about, but when it comes down to the brass tacks, you'd be surprised at what your body can adapt to.

Maybe I should look around a bit more but I hear a lot of people complain they look flat on a keto diet...? What is that a result of? Low fat intake or...?

less glycogen...who cares if you "Look" flat (Which I think is mostly BS)? If you have a show, carb up. If not then to me I actually look bigger on Keto, the rest of me got smaller.

Yes, you will look flat for a while, but then your body adapts and your glycogen will fill back up. You won't be as full, but then again you won't be as flat as a pancake either. If you are really low in calories, then you will be flatter since you won't be intaking excess to be converted into glycogen.
