Default Can these bars be used on a keto diet?

So as the title states, how successfully can these be used on a keto diet? I know they have the best nutritional contents of any bar on the market but can they be used when doing the keto thing. I am dying to use these even for the fiber alone.

i would have to say no for on season. fiber has 2 cals per gram vs the 4 for reg carbs. so the carbs for the fiber are not free. or maybe use them pwo.

Not ideal but yes you could use them and remain in ketosis. You'd have to factor it into your overall nutrition plan. But if your in ketosis one of these wouldn't boot you out.

Thanks for the responses. I ordered a few boxes of these, they will probably be here tomorrow. I guess I will have to finish the boxes up before I start dieting.

Just include one a day in your plan. You need plenty of fibre when running a keto (or any) diet anyway. If you can avoid the urge to scoff down half a dozen a day you should be fine.

    Default Quest Bars offseason...

tammyp is exactly correct. While nutritional science hasn't reached a consensus on whether or not fiber really "adds" calories, the most conservative approach is to add between 1.1 to 2 calories per gram.

The number we use is 1.6 cal/g and that's what we use to determine the calorie counts on our nutritional label.

As for using bars precontest, that's really up the to individual or their nutritionist.

While I don't think it can be argued that anything will ever be better than whole foods precontest we do have many competitors that do use bars right through their show prep.

One thing that is kind of strange is that a 220 calorie bar definitely keeps you less hungry than a 220 calorie meal. It's something that all of us at the company have experienced and we get emails about it all the time.

Our guess is that it's the fiber but it's something you can try for yourself.

We have some people that have gotten quite a bit leaner just by replacing a meal per day with a bar, which makes them end up eating less calories without really feeling it.

And if you don't end up using Quest Bars precontest, you should definitely try the Isolyze cake recipe from the Rx Muscle newsletters. I make them all the time and if I'm eating more fat, I will spread some almond butter on them. It feels like a real treat and beats another chicken breast some times.

Here's a pic of one of our team members, Shannan, who does use Quest Bars pre-contest, right before she took 1st place in her class as the Greater Gulf States Figure Competition:

Thanks for the response. I think the best way to use these bars is once you reach your ideal bodyfat level, use them as part of a maintenance/lean muscle gain, plan. I plan on doing keto for a few weeks and then I will be able to better use the bars. Right now I have 2 boxes and both flavors are totally delicious. My problem is that I eat at least 2 in one sitting and that's going to hamper fatloss. These bars are actually addicting, once you start eating them.

Right now I have a dilemma. I have a whole box left and I just started keto. I am doing keto but am literally have no carbs. I am not even eating veg or fruits. I will be eating no carbs. The quest bar would my soul source of carbs for the whole day and it would take up a single meal. I just wonder how this would affect my diet.

but what if these are literally your only source of fiber for the whole day? I am talking about someone who will be ingesting a total of 4 net carbs per day. It can't be bad as it will be replacing a meal as well.

You have to remember that someone like you who is competing, will have to be more strict than a regular guy like myself who wants to have a six pack. To me, this bar seems like a good way to get some fiber into the diet.

One more thing I forgot to mention is that even according to strict keto proponents, 20g of net carbs is allowed. That means if someone at two of these bars, they would only be getting 8 net carbs per day, assuming they ate no other carbs.

    I would say this

Get a blood test meter and do some testing with the bar before and after and compare to something such as a simple carb to compare the effects.

I got like 16 of there bars just to have something if I don't have food.
    Good to carry around

And I love the Peanut Butter Supreme over the other one by far
