basically i used to be able to drink 1/2 gallon or more milk in a siting growing up, i cut out most dairy when i started bodybuilding, and recently am trying to incorporate it more into my diet, but my stomach is not agreeing,
can i re-train my body to accept lactose again?
id love some R.D. input here, as everything ive read says i cant....Live Free, Train Hard

Milk issues
Usually your tolerance to lactose is individual and usually decrease over time, we as humans really are not meant to be drinking milk anymore after we get to adulthood. you do not see cows drinking milk as they get older as they instinctually know not to do it anymore, we get plenty of protein and calcium from other foods and supplements there should be no worries there. I had at one time tried to increase my tolerance but it was a very change meaning over a 6 month period I was able to drink a few ounces more without issues worsening but the road to that level was not fun. We all have a tolereance and yours may be 8oz or 10oz total and that is it. But please understand most ppl not only have lactose intolerance but also milk protein allergies. The milk sugar is one problem the milk protein (whey and casein) is another problem altogether. If you find yourself taking lactase tablets and still experience bloating and gas, hives etc.. then guess what it is milk protein causing the problem. I can take 2 scoops of hydrowhey no problem 3 scoops I am toast and in for trouble...this is my tolerance level, I tried taking lactase tabs but it did nothing so it was the milk proteins I was allergic to. How to fix this? You should buy MALIBARS super milk digestant tabs, they not only have lactase in them but also Rennin or rennet which helps to coagulate milk proteins so slower digestion can occur and leaky gut problems will be a thing of the past ok? The problem is the milk goes through the stomach too fast and is hitting the small intestines with too much milk sugar and protein for them to absorb quickly enough which causes your problems. Personally I would stay away from milk as it is NOT healthy and there are much better protein sources by means of shakes like isolyze and hydrowhey that are far superior. Milk coats the esophagus and cilia (hair like structures in esophagus that trap bacteria from getting into our systems) when coated the milk rots and can cause problems as well as bacteria easily gains access and you can get sick. I would stay away from pure milk and if shakes give you an issue then use the tablets I mentioned and you should be fine. I have researched this issue heavily as I too wanted a fix so hope this helps guide you in the right direction Nate

1-) Find Raw Milk, some people can handle raw milk much better than pastuerized.
2-) Take lactase tabs (advise against, since your body is "allergic" to lactose for a reason, like drinking alcohol and then taking a hangover pill)
3-) Find Goat/sheep milk.
4-) Repeat this when you feel the urge to drink milk:
"I am not a baby cow, I am not a baby cow, I am not a baby cow, I am not a baby cow, I am not a baby cow, I am not a baby cow, I am not a baby cow, etc....."

hahaha, prob is dairy is in everything, and since im not on a pre-contest diet for my whole life, id like to keep it in my diet at some point.....
whether its 1 slice of cheese, or a glass of milk id like to be able to enjoy it. especially since i enjy yogurt as well, so i think ill stick to my 1 sip of milk 2-3x a time until my tolerance builds up again, so far im up to 3 mouthfulls a day, meaning 1 glass over the period of a day is all good,
mainly id like to be able to use whey concentrate again, and save myself the $40/mo it costs for me to use iso-100Live Free, Train Hard
