Braves pitching collapsed right off. Even one run gives losers some dignity, but this was a horrible loss for the Braves. You know the baseball mantra: there's always next year.

Astros 6, Rays 1 (in Astros stadium, game 5 of ALDS); Astros will move to the ALCS vs. the Yankees.
The Rays put up little fight in the last of a five-game series. Jose Altuve scored the most HRs of any 2nd baseman in post history.

NLCS
Game 1, October 11: Nationals 2, Cardinals 0 at Busch stadium (1-0)
Game 2, October 12, Nationals 3, Cardinals 1 at Busch (2-0)
Game 3, October 14, Nationals 8, Cardinals 1 at Nationals Park (3-0)
I'm posting highlights of the 2nd game. It was exciting. The other two were blowouts for the Nats. The Cards haven't gotten runs in this series. Nats have scored 13 runs to the Cards' 2. You can be a great team, but look bad when you're playing a team that's "on," & the Nats are.

ALCS game 3, October 15

Thomas Boswell's commentary on the Nats' pennant victory, from The Washington Post.
My comment on it:
The Nats won w/ small ball in a big ball era. Their biggest baller left the team & they played better. The prototype for this type of play is the KC Royals, who small-balled their way to World Series rings. A mad dash can beat a big bat; at least, it worked for the Royals.
