Prejudging is over. The story is about Gunz, who will likely win lightweight and masters bbing, and we'll see for the overall open. Tough competition.
I likely got 4th or 5th out of 5 SHW's in the open. We had 2 guys in the class who were rushing to qualify for Nationals next week. They were 6'-4" and 6'-2" and both over 250. Awesome class! I'm 2nd or 3rd out of 5 in the over 50 class. My legs just don't have the shape and size to win right now. But I'm happy with my shape and conditioning.
Laurel's the star today. She's given notice to those headed to the nationals next year!

Laurel won the LW class! She got second in Masters to the overall (HW) open winner. It was a close contest with 13 outstanding fbbers. All thought she should do the Nationals next week but her work schedule interferes unfortunately. Next year and even bigger.
I got shut out. Couldn't overcome the wheels deficit, even in the very stiff 50-over. Lots of compliments on upper body, but it's not about half a package. I'm not disappointed in the least. It was a moral victory. Knowing that I'd likely not place. This was a great show with some of the best bbers around. Kudos to the promoter, Randy and Lisa Sandberg!
A couple weeks off, then on to bringing the legs up and bringing Gunz into the 2011 Nationals!

Recognizing what you need to do and working that area, is over half the battle. Too many people fall alittle short at goals in life and tend to look elsewhere other than themselves. After that injury, you got right back on track...for next year. Slap 10-15 lbs of muscle in those legs (muscle memory should help) and get up on stage at the weight someone 6'4" should be and you got a winning package. IMO.

I did the Red River to work on posing get a run of my routine on stage so we didn't do anything to peak for the show. Did not want to mess with peaking for Nats. I hold tons of water so placed 3rd. But not worried the plan was just to pose.
Once we dry me for Nats time to fight for first and that pro catd!!!!

"Laurel won the LW class! She got second in Masters to the overall (HW) open winner."
The shock here is that she didn't win the Master's overall-or even the men's overall! She looked phenomenal in the preliminary pics. You must have a lot of competition back there. Got any competition pics? Too bad about your legs. It's tough to win without much shape in the lower half. Just be careful with your continuing rehab. It's easy to get carried away with post competition enthusiasm.

Laurel looked amazing in these pictures. Congrats and props on her success. And R, you deserve a lot of credit as well. Like what you said about moral victory. You did your best, and competed well. Respect!
