This is not right.. But you have the men folk(IFBB, Chic) to thank for this.. Hell Chic cant stand FBB's from what I have observed..
One of the Weiders (Dont know which one) said once that FBB's need to be at home in the kitchen making their men's dinners..
Now that I think about it, Joe Weider is never escorted onstage to shake hands or give medals to any of the women at the Olympia weekend..

I disagree, only because I get a sense that there's a need to "rebrand" what's known as female bodybuilding on the marketing level and no matter how they go about it, it's a no-win situation to ease the blow on FBBs of today.
I think when any athletic gal not involved in the culture hears "Female Bodybuilding" they think "huge", "ugly", "unfeminine." So "phasing out" female bodybuilding might be seen as getting rid of "ugly." and hearing "physique" -maybe- gets them more interested.
Iris's cuts, striations, vascularity, muscularity and overall package during her run will always stay entrenched in our minds for years to come. To have Iris downsize to the "physique" level, I'm not sure if it's a look that will represent the new brand well. On the other hand, after hearing Iris's interview on Heavy Muscle Radio the other week, it might be a challenge Iris is willing to take on. Only Iris knows the answer. Someone needs to ask her.

It's always surprising to me that so few FBB's actually chime in on these discussions (which are polite and well-regulated from ignorance) and offer their perspective...especially pros. Perhaps that is part of the problem. There is an attitude of individualism (for whatever reason) that prevents a consensus.
When I was speaking with Brigita (who is a wonderful BB and person) at the "O" on this subject (about how few FBB's there are and why we need to 'get along') we both agreed that this is definitely an area that needs work. We also said please someone hit us on the head if we ever think that being a pro means being arrogant, a diva, or being unable to have a real conversation with other people in this sport.
Maybe it's just that some of us are more computer literate?
I appreciate people like Beni, Debbie, Sassy, Dawn, Tammy and others for putting their opinions and themselves on the line to contribute. And obviously a place to do it where there is the ability to disagree in a respectful manner. That's how you get EDUCATED and the more we learn about others, the more we can appreciate and perhaps do something MEANINGFUL.
Part of this discussion does need to address that 1. women are not involved in the decision making (the athletes themselves) and 2. in the past, many (not all) do not seem to be interested.
Perhaps there is no official venue to do so? Living overseas, I just use the forums to stay informed, other than that I truly am out of the loop. So just another thought that may be relevant in how things evolve in this sport...

LOL @ Dawn.
I can't help my height so when you put me up on the pro stage I look almost 'figure like' LOL with my height and tiny joints....backstage I even felt like I should put on heels haha
Like Debbie though, I don't want to stop training, this body has been a project for years and I like it just fine.
Dawn to me you look pretty friggin buff too so no complaints from you woman.

^Is Brigita considered too big?
And was this posted in this thread?
This is from Bob Cicherillo, the IFBB Pro Athlete's rep as posted on GETBIG.com
You're a little off on the title and on why its being done...here are some facts
Yes, there is a new division that will be put in place, it's called "WOMENS PHYSIQUE DIVISION"
It will not replacing WBB, it's a whole different division
They will not wear heels
WBB has phased itself out with numbers dwindling to the point that we can no longer justify it
This new division has NOTHING to do with any of the others in terms of any rule changes as you mentioned, there will be no changes to Figure, bikini.
The WPD will run much like a FBB competition except for a few things...the girls will do quarter turns, mandatories, routine...difference will be the poses will be restructured to be more feminine and the physiques will resemble more of the physiques of WBB in the early to mid 80's...
Initially, there will be only one class...as numbers grow, so will the class sizes/ structure
Figure girls that are too hard for figure would fit in , as would the same for Fitness...FBB would have to scale it WAY down to even have a chance of fitting into the criteria. This will not resemble FBB by any stretch as to what it is todayFacebook | Instagram | Twitter | Join Rx Muscle on Facebook!

While I'm not a fan of the female mass monsters when I look at bodybuilders like Iris Kyle I can't help but be impressed. It would be a shame to lose the best of bodybuilding to fashion.
