What does Betty Pariso have to say about all this?
I've been following much of the conversation, but do not recall yet having seen any statements from her.

physique division
This is going to be a great opportunity for athletes who don't think they fit into the mold of either a figure competitor or a bodybuilder to create a whole new world of competition. I think this is an exciting time. More choices for more types of bodies is a good thing in my opinion.
I would love to see a way to make it distinguished, as some have mentioned before. You can certainly tell the difference between a bodybuilder and a figure competitor, and it would be great to have something to set apart the physique division. When I first heard of it I thought maybe the idea was to be in a black suit and black heels, that would create a sophisticated and elegant look. Everyone looks good in black. The combination of open hand posing along with heels seems like it would create an unique distinguished look. Since this division is not figure and it is also not bodybuilding. It is something new and different.
It will be interesting to see what types of routines are also going to be created. I can see a slower fitness routine looking very nice, something that shows the definition and lines and also with some upbeat fitness type of moves. I am sure everyone has their own vision of how they see it and our goal as representatives of the IFBB is to get those ideas that are in our heads to all match to this new and fresh division. I think it will be great for the sport. Defining the division seems primary to logistics.
Maybe some people can chime in who think they would fare well in this division and post some thoughts of how they would sculpt their physique to create this look. We are after all body artists, and I think anyone of us is capable of creating a look that is artistically as well as athletically pleasing.

Can I rebump my earlier question? I got skipped over (or ignored)
Bob,
Thank you for addressing the 800lb elephant in the room -
It would seem to me that if supps are at the heart of the dilemma, the creation of a legit natural or tested npc amateur and ifbb pro divisions to go alongside (not replace) what is out there currently, would answer your issues with the current state of bb and everyone would automatically understand the criteria - (get ripped, hard, and dry, but not HYUUUGE or masculine)
To me, it begs the question - what will be in place to prevent the physique division from progressing too far or in your words "control progress"? As the judging panel's track record to "control progress" is one that took us from Zane, Dickerson, Bannout as the standard to Coleman, Cutler, Greene (AC). And for pro Figure a hard Davana, Jenny Lynn, Lado, Ziville to a soft Nicole Wilkins Lee,
Respectfully -
Michael

if and young 80's Bergman is too big you guys
are going to have problems and waste a good effort.
watch just the first minute
if thats too big,the division will not tap into what your all trying to do.
By the way I design supps for a living and do this stuff in and out
and am very aware of marketing.
We want to reach a wide demographic as well.
you all know what Jamie Eason singly handisly did ( you know)
you can do the same if you do the mens physique and women division right

Hi, Bob.
When do you anticipate the IFBB/NPC releasing criteria for the new division?
If my memory is correct, I think you've mentioned a return to more of a Cory Everson-type look. Gina Aliotti or Larissa Reis were also mentioned as prototypes of the physique that will do well in the new division.
If the earlier photo that fitbody posted of herself is also an acceptable look, the range of physiques between Cory, a modern day "too big" figure competitor, and the photo is very broad.
If the new division is "20%" more muscle than figure, then a couple of those examples don't necessarily seem to fit. Cory is significantly more muscular than Erin Stern, for example.
How should competitors interpret and reconcile these differences?
Thanks for your help.

i think i speak for all the bb girls when i say this division interests me BUT we worry that it sounds like it is just another figure division which we can't quite fit into. I Just hope girls in this division can have a lil more 'full' muscles, that'd make me happy and interested. I personally am NOT wanting to compete in womens pro bbing....so this division excites me!
