Default Wa State Ref's to be suspended for using Pink whistles!

this is where I went to school back in the day...

I wrote this douche bag a quick email. cliffs notes: refs donated two weeks salaries for high school football games to the susan g komen group and used pink whistles for a game. they now face a two game suspension for violating dress code. paraphrasing; "it sends the wrong message to stuent athletes about code of conduct..."

Arnt the pink whistles regarding October, Breast Cancer Awareness month? Just watch a NFL football game this month. Pink everywhere.

We are all either females, have a wife, mom, sister, aunt, grandma, or daughter. Breast Cancer is serious chit!!

My late bride of 44 year had Breast Cancer. She died 3 months ago from a burst intestine...most likely a tumor from the Breast Cancer.

I fully understand code enforcement, but breast cancer awareness is virtually untouchable. And given the small display of their support, the referees are going to win this fight.

What is the athletics board going to do when ALL of the referees decide to go on strike? Seriously, are they really in a position to suspend all their qualified referees for 2 weeks?

Sorry to hear about your wife, Baldie. My condolences.

the problem is is that they didn't ask the board for permission first. all they had to do was go through the correct pathway and there never would have been an issue. now the refs are making the board look like the bad guys because they screwed up, and they are hiding behind an untouchable issue like breast cancer. it is akin to holding up a child as a shield during a hostage negotiation. the refs are the scumbags here

the refs did the right thing for the community. its not like they got something out of the whole ordeal. they were thinking beyond themselves. ask permission? your wife got your balls in her purse too? do you have to ask her to have them back before you go out with the guys for an evening? oh, sorry, she has you cleaning the house instead of being a man. my bad. douche.

really? you honestly think this is what it is akin to? making a poor judgement decision in not asking the board about a pink whistle vs. using a child as a human shield

the point is is they are breaking the rules and hiding behind something that no one wants to touch even if they are doing the right thing. the refs have a dress code that they have to follow. if they break that code there are possible penalties they have to face. it doesn't matter why they broke it. only that they did. for whatever reason they did not follow the correct path to use the pink whistles. if they did it would have been no problem. a guy from the board was on a local talk show here in seattle on friday and he explained the whole thing.

    Um...it's just a whistle.

    Did the pink whistle work?

Then I don't see what the problem is.

I can understand the "slippery slope" attitude, wherein if they allow one tiny infraction, it opens the door for more frequent and larger infractions.

But really, in this case, a simple application of sound judgement and common sense was/is really in order.

Unlikely, I know. But itd be a nice change of pace.

    Zero tolerance rules are bullshit.

Again, its just a whistle. Fuck me runnin people can be disappointing.

A simple, "The refs should have followed protocol and asked for a waiver to use the pink whistles during the month of October. That said, those men have their heart in the right place and we as the refs association appreciate their efforts to support the cause."

It's not like they were wearing pink bras or doing something else to bring shame on the refs association.

Punishment should happen in private. Personally, nothing more than a formal reprimand that they use the proper protocol in the future and then buy em a beer for supporting breast cancer research and doing their part to bring visibility to the cause.

This is one of the most retarded statements I've ever read on this board...and that's saying something!

No, using pink whistles for some high school football games is not at all akin to using a child as a human shield. LOL
