The next big supplement
HICA or Alpha-Hydroxyisocaproic Acid could be the next big supplement. "...It is a natural metabolite of leucine (the key amino acid largely responsible for the anabolic effect of protein supplementation). HICA makes its way to muscles without being broken down and it has been scientifically proven to be much more potent than its precursor (leucine)."
MuscleTech used it in their Alpha aminotype and Anabolic Halo, but it was a proprietary blend so the amount was unknown. I finally found a place that sold it as a stand alone product here http://www.houseofmuscle.com/hianst.html ...60 capsules for $40
The research that i've found seems fairly credible... and the results show that taking 1.5g of HICA dosed evenly throughout the day increases lean muscle mass. This was a four week double blind study on 15 healthy soccer players and the results show an increase in lean body mass and decrease in whole body DOMS.

the only problem I see is that the pictures on the website are of guys that are obvioulsy on steroids (not that I have anthing against that). But if you are going to make the point that this is not a prohormone or testosterone which they do they you shouldnt be showing pics of guys that are. makes it seem kinda "muscletech Like" not saying it is and it will be interesting to see some real results.

I agree, I'm not saying they are claiming steroid like results I just found it interesting that they chose those pics when they clearly make it a point to say this product is safe and not a steroid. Like I said should be an interesting product to keep an eye on.

I still have a couple of questions about the houseofmuscle web site because the people that conducted this study is called Oy Elmomed, and they filed a patent after the research was done. However, the patent only covers supplements where HICA is the sole active ingredient. The houseofmuscle HICA product contains 100mg of viatmin C, lol...so i'm not really sure if it's legit yet.
This is the companies web site that conducted the study:
