Word of mouth! If a client is happy with you, they're gonna brag about you. I've had steady clients this way since 2006.

I initially began training because people were approaching me and asking me. Nothing has changed since. I have a different full time gig so I have never had to advertise.....When a client drops off, I just approach someone that has expressed interest in training. I'm fortunate.

post pictures of your dick EVERYWHERE, and people will automatically give you a ton of credibility and want you to train them. Trust me, it works. Its beyond science.

On a serious note, my good friend made almost 30 k in a summer from training clients in between law school. He posted ads with his experience and credentials on every social networking/dating site known to man. And he made tons and tons of money. Its all about marketing bro. Nobody is going to train with you if they don't know who you are or what services you have to offer.

I send people to Rx Muscle so they can see all the artwork people do with my photos in my honor. After seeing this - they know I'm Don Legitski.
Also, text on your phone and ignore your client after putting them on a machine during their workout. One, they will start trying harder to impress you (as they should) and two they will tell all of their friends how you are an asshole trainer and use new technology to motivate them to higher levels.
