Tuesday 6/26 lower body training
My hip has been giving me trouble since my kids’ swim meet on Saturday. Although I’ve been to the gym, it’s been more for puttering and mobility work than serious lifting. Saw the chiro on Monday and I’m feeling a little better. Just needs to run its course as usual.
Dynamic warmup
Leg extension:
30 x 8
40 x 8
3 x 50 x 8
50 x 8 drop 40 x 8 drop 30 x 8
Lying leg curl:
30 x 8
40 x 8
3 x 50 x 8
50 x 8 drop 40 x 8 drop 30 x 8
Leg press (horizontal, pin loaded, if anyone cares):
a few warms to get used to this POS machine
8 x 150 x 8
Not a lot cuz in this seated position it kills my hip pressing out of the bottom if I go any heavier. This was a waaaay easy weight I could press with my right leg alone. Ugh.
Leg press calves:
8 x 150 x 8
Went home and took it easy some more. Ice 20 min every hour is helping to keep the joint from feeling warm. Mobility is great, lying down is fine, just walking, sitting, and driving are excriciating. Whatever. It’ll pass.Last edited by Sunnyday; 06-26-2018 at 09:44 PM.

I can relate to the hip issues as it affects almost everything you do.
Hope you're feeling better soon.

Yeah, it sure does affect everything I do. :-/
My FIL’s memorial service is this afternoon in Buffalo. On Monday my husband and I realized that I wouldn’t make the 10-hour car ride. So he and the kids went up yesterday and I’m home alone for 3 days.
Yeah, it affects everything.2016 RX Member of the Year & March 2015 Member of the Month

Thanks, cook
Exactly! I cringe every time I have to get in the car and drive for more than a few minutes! It’s one of the reasons we moved 5 years ago as I was spending all day in the car. My condition improved enough that I could tolerate about 90 minutes in the car without too much discomfort. This flare-up is pretty bad though, and yeah I originally cheered internally at the thoughts of being home alone PLUS unlimited gym time PLUS perfect meal timing. But then there’s the pain.
I’d much rather be pain free.2016 RX Member of the Year & March 2015 Member of the Month

Wednesday 6/27 upper body training
I had zero expectations for today. Training went surprisingly well!
dynamic warmup
Face pulls (even reps paused):
30 x 12
40 x 12
3 x 50 x 12
Bench press, 2-count pauses at liftoff, bottom, and at lockout on last rep before racking:
2 x Bar x 10
2 x 75 x 5
100 x 5
116 x 5
127 x 5
3 x 135 x 5 - not bad! Moved better than last week but the hip started hurting as I was getting up from the third set so I stopped there. Upper body felt like it could have easily done 2 more sets at this weight with the same form though.
Skipped bent over rows to baby the hip and not take a chance on having it flare up again
Meadows rows:
3 x +30 x 8/side - dropped the weight down 10# so I could balance better on the left
Inverted rows:
3 x BW x 12
Seated neutral grip rows:
3 x 110 x 8Last edited by Sunnyday; 06-27-2018 at 03:22 PM.
