I had to give up on that machine. I was up to 4 plates PER SIDE. Inevitably the plates wete across the gym. Little me walking eight plates bsck and forth was hurting my back instead of making any difference in my calves. So the bodyweight option is where I remain for the time being.
I'll say it's nostalgia!

Catching up on this week's training.
Thursday.
Will be missing my Saturday gym time due to my kids' first swim meet of the fall/winter season so I crammed bench/back/arms into this jam session
Nick Tumminello's upper body warmup (modified a bit)
over & back band stretches
band pull-aparts
a few inverted rows with my bench grip
Flat bench:
bar x 8
65 x 8
85 x 5
105 x 5
110 x 4
5 x 115 x 4 - WOOT! Very happy with these numbers!
Decline DB rrows:
40 x 8
40 x 10
45 x 8 - finally going up! happy with these numbers too!
Reverse grip bent over rows:
3 x 115 x 8 BOOM! - usually do 95 here.
Meadows rows:
3 x +40 x 8 - up 10 lbs here too! Liking this trend!
Dips:
3 x BW x 12
superset with ...
Chins:
3 x BW x 5
Standing bb curl:
3 x 40 x 10

Friday training.
My last gym day before a 2-day break. Swim meet Saturday and I owe my family some face time with mommy on Sunday. Planning to go to the garden center to pick out pumpkins.
Nick Tumminello's lower body warmup (modified a bit)
Banded BW squats with toes against wall, 3 x 10
Monster walks
Sumo walks
Box squats to 12" box:
bar x 8
65 x 8
85 x 5
105 x 5
5 x 115 x 4 - this doesn't look like much but to a 12" box (regulation PL depth for my size) and with NO butt wink AND with my busted hip/back this is impressive! Quite proud of this progress. Hip is still shifting a touch to the left unless I have razor sharp focus. Hard to do in a busy commercial gym with unfitting house music (today it was reggae - wtf?!) cranked loud enough I could hear it over my iPod. :-/
Moving on...
Sumo deads!! ya think these are the highlight of my lower body days?!
95 x 5
115 x 5
135 x 3
8 x 155 x 1 with just 60 sec between singles!
I am stoked about the progress I'm making with these! Adding more weight next week.
Glute blast:
- 30 Side lying clams ss 30 side lying abduction
- 30 single leg glute bridge ss 30 quadruped hip ext from elbows
- 30 quadruped leg swings on bench ss 30 fire hydrants
Morning Calf smash:
3 x 10 single leg hops each leg
superset with
3 x 5 single leg standing calf raises with 5-sec hold at top each rep
Left the gym giddy about my progress
Evening calf smash:
1 set of bilateral standing calves to failure
2 x 30-sec calf stretch each leg

Same. I'm itching to go in though. I've done 12 straight so common sense is telling me to take a day off but I'm getting gym cravings.
