Wednesday 8/2 upper body training
Ultra-limited training time today. My daughter called me while out, had a flat tire and naturally the car her dad gave her didn't have a spsre tire OR a jack! Annnd my husband's plane comes in this afternoon so I get to bring the whoooole entourage with me to pick him up. Fun never ends with my family circus.
Four more weeks until the kids are back in school and I get a more regular schedule.
dynamic warmup
Face pulls:
2 x 50 x 12, pausing the even reps with a hard 1-sec squeeze
Bench press (competition style, pause bottom and top each rep, reset shoulders, repeat):
bar x 5
65 x 5
85 x 5
105 x 5
4 x 116 x 5 -
Reverse grip bb rows:
4 x 135 x 8
That was all I could get done before I had to take the entourage to pick up my daughters car abd then go to the airport to retrieve my hubby. Wow, I need a home gym.Last edited by Sunnyday; 08-02-2017 at 02:03 PM.

Thursday 8/3 lower body training
Picked my husband up from the airport yesterday afternoon, with the entourage in tow. Due to the t-storms with HAIL that we had en route, the usual 2-hour trip took 3.5 hours. Blah! I was feeling it last night and I'm still feeling it today. Still didn't stop me from training.
Dynamic warmup
DB lying leg curl:
30 x 12
35 x 12
3 x 40 x 12
Squats:
bar x 5
75 x 5
95 x 5
115 x 5
135 x 5
3 x 140 x 5 - moved REALLY well considering yesterday's extra drive time
Sumo deads:
135 x 1
155 x 1
175 x 1
6 x 188 x 1 - with 30 sec rests. These moved pretty well too. Go figure.

Update on my FIL.
For those of you just tuning in, he has pancreatic cancer and has been in the hospital for nearly a week.
He's out of ICU now that the cellulitis in his legs is under control. Took two broad spectrum antibiotics plus the rest of the pharmacy to get any sign of improvement. Blood glucose was a whopping 400 so yeah he's on insulin now. Hasn't stopped him from having his McDonald's custard cup every night but if that's what he wants at this stage, go for it. Yesterday he was transported home by ambulance and is getting care through home hospice. He's still got all his faculties but at this point he just wants some dignity in his last weeks or months. Much respect to him.
Meanwhile, my MIL is in a state of denial, and to her credit I'm sure I'd be if I was in her shoes and my husband was dying. She's angry with my FIL for not "fighting" harder. My husband finally had to put her in her place, reminding her he didn't want chemo in the first place and because of her nagging he did not one but TWO rounds of chemo which nearly killed him.
My husband was a great help to them, as I predicted he would be. No other person I'd want to have my back in a crisis than my man!2016 RX Member of the Year & March 2015 Member of the Month

Sunny - having just passed my 52nd birthday and still just getting my bearings after my various soft tissue surgeries and I think finally getting beyond most of the resulting imbalances (minute but critical weak vs strong areas create some dramatic pain) I'm ready to go back to "training" where I enjoy it and don't hate it. I unloaded my trainer, ironically because he was turning into a prick from overdoing the tren + his own issues, and I've actually started enjoying training again.
You're a beast in the gym and outside of the gym. Prayers to you & your family as they get thru your FIL's issues! My mom had her left shoulder replaced on July 11 and is planning to go back for the right shoulder as soon as she finishes the 6 weeks of expected healing, and my dad is still battling the remnants of shingles he experienced behind his left eye last year but they are strong, positive and kicking it hard as they both have birthdays this month putting them at 76 & 78 yrs old.
Goin' BIG and NOT Goin' Home!

Thank you.
Hiya sassy! Been quite a while since I saw you post on the forums. Welcome back!
I'm glad to hear most of your issues seem to be behind you AND that you unloaded the trainer. Enjoying training is where it's GOT to be for us! People often ask me what program I do and I have to first share with them that what I do won't necessarily work FOR THEM, but rather that they need to find ANY program that they ENJOY doing and that they will KEEP doing.
Many thanks for the kind words of encouragement and for the prayers. It's a rough time for our family. I lost my dad to cancer 19 years ago, so while it sucks for me, I have a feel for what's about to come. My husband has lost close friends but in very traumatic situations in the blink of an eye. Still my husband's side of the family has never lost someone so close to them with the sort of decline like my FIL is going through now. It just plain sucks. Just gotta enjoy every minute we still have with him and be a support.2016 RX Member of the Year & March 2015 Member of the Month

Friday 8/4 upper body training
I was in the mood for a PR or two today. So I hit FIVE PRs LOL!
dynamic warmup
Bench press (competition style, pause bottom/top, reset shoulders, repeat):
Bar x 5
65 x 5
85 x 5
105 x 5
115 x 3
125 x 3
132 x 3
135 x 3 Post-shoulder impingement PR! First rep was a nice pause, next 2 reps were TNG which was fine, but that 3rd rep was a little grindy which is not what I want at this point in my program so I stopped there. Opted not to do some extra SlingShot work because I still had some pullups and arm work I wanted to do and I was still on that childcare time crunch
Chins:
3 x +27.5 x 5 - up 2.5# from last week and a PR woo
Played around with tricep pressdowns on the assisted dip machine:
50 x 12
60 x 8
50 x 12, and tagged John Meadows on the vid I posted on Instagram LOL
Rope hammer curl ss rope pressdown:
70 x 10 ss 70 x 8 (3 rounds) - PR for both yeah
Close grip bench ss incline DB curl:
95 x 8 ss 20s x 8 (3 rounds) - PR for the CG bench
Childcare police came to get me just as I finished my last set. Whew!

95 x 5
115 x 5
135 x 3
145 x 3
155 x 3

Sumo deads:
135 x 1
155 x 1
175 x 1
195 x 1
210 x 1
220 x 1 and a post-injury deadlift PR wooooooo!

Thanks, Mac! Yeah they keep climbing. The deads are 12 below my all-time best, and I'm not going to rush it. At this rate I'll be there in 6 weeks! And I know I had 2 more reps on the squats, which would put my 1RM right around 206 and I'm STOKED BEYOND BELIEF about that! Not bad for an old lady with a busted hip, back, and 2 bad knees.
