Yepper! Today it's more of the same but at least I know about some if it in advance, unlike yesterday when it was all coming up on the fly.
Chaos du jour includes:
1.picture day for the littles that I forgot about until 7:45, bus comes at 8:15. Nice. Ever try to re-dress an autistic child? Three outfits later (ironing each one as we go), finally find something presentable that FITS my 6-y.o. Wow. Barely enough time to shove breakfast down their throats. Oh, and packing their lunches as we go. LOL.
2. Double booked for tonight- big kid has her swim team banquet tonight AT THE SAME TIME as the little ones' swim team practice on the other side of town. My husband will be taking them and I get big kid. I also get to bring a crock pot full of food to this shindig. Now where am I gonna find the time to COOK something and not skip my gym time, huh?! I take comfort in knowing my husband is only taking over AFTER I help the kids with their homework. Dad helping with homework would put me (and the kids AND their teachers) over the edge.
I have half a mind to take a day off next week, put the kids on the bus and drive straight to the beach. Yes, sit on the beach by myself. In the cold. Then drive back in time to get them from the bus.2016 RX Member of the Year & March 2015 Member of the Month

Wednesday...chest and shoulders
Yesterday I had to sit in the car in traffic. For three hours, on a trip that normally takes 45 minutes. Nasty multi-car accident with Medevac flown in, blocking traffic in both directions on a major road at rush hour. Bottom line, I could barely walk last night. This morning wasn't much better. But I remind myself that it could be worse, I could have been one of those accident victims being flown to shock trauma. Or worse yet, it could have been one of my kids. Counting my blessings.
Insane morning here, got to the gym way behind schedule and with a busy afternoon/evening ahead of me I didn't have any time to waste. Too much lower body stuff going on to even attempt my usual warmup so I just lubed up with Cryoderm (fancy Biofreeze) like other people would use body lotion and prayed my body would just hold up through some sorry excuse I could call "training".
Over and back presses:
25 x 10
35 x 10
45 in use. Ugh.
3 x 55 x 8
Incline bb:
bar x 10
65 x 10
85 x 10
95 x 10
105 x 10 better than last week. Go figure
Incline DB flyes:
3 x 40s x 12 launching these KILLS the elbows. :-/
Flat DB press:
45 x 0 let out a yelp trying to launch these and dumped them on the floor. Ow.
1 x 45 x 10 and that was all she wrote.
Cable flyes:
did a couple of reps with 10#/side but just too painful to continue
I had hoped that 2 days would have been plenty of time to recover from hanging that giant 4' x 8' decal in my son's room. Elbows and long head of the biceps tendons, both sides, told me otherwise.
Wide grip upright rows were out
front DB raises were out, no matter how I turned my wrists
lateral cable raise, leaning:
1 x 5 x 10 each way - ow
Leaning DB lateral raise:
1 x 25 x 12 each side - ow
Reverse DB flyes, supported on incline bench:
6 x 15s x 12, neutral grip
^kills the elbows, long head of biceps tendons, back, & hip getting into position but movement itself is painless
Six ways: -painful but did it anyway
3 x 8s x 8
last set added 20 partials
Loaded holds:
55s x 60 sec - this is 50% BW in each hand
65s x 30 sec (2 sets) - this is 60% BW in each hand, limited only by sweat dripping out from under the gloves onto my fingertips
--did these standing, too much sitting yesterday to last me a week
even standing sucked, QLs, psoas, and left rec fem kept spazzing out trying to stabilize the hip/low back
--but I get the feeling grip strength isn't my problem?? Didn't realize I could hold THAT much
Finished with 20 min on the elliptical. Left quads kept spazzing out but made it through.
Glad this day is more than half over.
Good news is my oldest called me. Her coach pulled her aside and told her (shhh!) she earned enough points through this season to get her varsity letter at the banquet tonight! She's the only freshman who did. Besides telling her how proud I am of her I told her she should be very proud of herself. Not many people can earn a varsity letter in their very first season in high school AND at their first year at a competitive sport. Wow.2016 RX Member of the Year & March 2015 Member of the Month

I tell people I know someone that does make it work. It just depends on how bad you want it. Common excuse for common average people. I just don't have time. Sunny has shot that excuse dead in the ass. You are awesome.

Just peeked at tomorrow's forecast. Snow, 1-2". The heaviest is expected between 4-8 am.
Translation: could be a 2-hour delay, could be a snow day. But we won't know about a delay until 5:30, our regular wake-up time. Then we might not hear about closing until 7:30.
I have a chiro appointment at lunch. If schools are delayed, I may not get to train. Boo.Last edited by Sunnyday; 02-25-2015 at 10:52 PM.

Missed training yesterday and today. Yesterday because of a school delay that later turned into a closing. Too crunched for time because of a chiro appointment I couldn't reschedule.
Today has been a train wreck of hiccups that started last night. Behind the scenes stuff from computer issues that couldn't be solved to a very upsetting call from one of my kids' teachers to calls to the pediatrician for other stuff and topped off with having to make a very difficult medical decision about a loved one. Some friends got bits and pieces of jumbled play by play of me just trying to hold it together and I just hope I didn't offend anyone in the process.
Meanwhile, my oldest is swimming at state championships right now near DC and I'm so sad I can't be there to cheer her on. The bus will probably bring her back to school very late. I've had about 2 hours of sleep and managed to miss 2 meals while trying to juggle everything.
Next weekend I get to take my daughter on a retreat with 900 other screaming teenagers. That almost sounds like a picnic. Almost.Last edited by Sunnyday; 02-27-2015 at 06:36 PM.

Saturday...back
FINALLY! A DAY IN THE GYM!!
Nick Tumminello's upper body warmup plus some chiro prescribed mobility stuff
Straight arm pulldowns:
15 x 20
20 x 20
25 x 15
30 x 12
35 x 10
42.5 x 8 - I wasn't sure how I was going to feel after 2 days off but then I got to this last set of 8 that lit my lats on FIRE and I started feeling like myself again!
gym was empty enough that I could finally switch back training around YEAH!
For several weeks I have been doing these exercises in the reverse order of what you see here, usually because I can do 1-arm rows everywhere and am limited on the squat rack availability early on a Saturday morning.
Meadows rows:
2 warms
40 x 8
45 x 8
50 x 8
Wide grip pullups:
2 x BW x 8
Reverse grip bent over rows:
2 warms
95 x 8
105 x 8
115 x 8
125 x 8
Reverse grip pulldowns:
4 x 100 x 12
^wish I could go heavier on these put I can't pull the dang bar down while standing on the bench AND get into position, all I do is HANG THERE HOLDING ONTO THE BAR!
1-arm DB rows, supported on bench:
3 x 65 x 8
Right rec fem kept spazzing out in little spurts while I was doing these and couldn't stabilize myself any heavier.
Neutral grip pullups:
(these are still killing my elbows so reps were limited by elbow pain)
2 x BW x 8
because of the left rec fem being so irritated I decided to skip deads and cardio. Good news is I wore my belt through all this and I noticed my QLs weren't spazzing out AT ALL and it was a whole lot easier maintaining focus without stopping to get through a low back spasm! (walking and sitting set it off 10 times more than any heavy exercise ever could) That is great news, actually, since this is the first week the chiro and I decided I was ready to skip the kinesio tape. I truly thought I'd never get to the point where I wouldn't need it but now here I am, tape-free!Last edited by Sunnyday; 02-28-2015 at 02:44 PM.

Now that things have settled down on my home front for the time being, I decided to catch up with a few peeps I follow, including Isabelle Turell. On her blog she's rocking her first-ever Cardillo belt! I thought to myself, "Hey, I have one of those!"

Update on my big girl's first trip to state swimming chapmpionships!
Yesterday was the rescheduled high school swim championship meet. Unfortunately I couldn't attend because I had to care for my little ones coming out of school and the swim meet was near Washington, DC, over an hour away.
My kiddo rocked it, shaving another second off her best freestyle time. So proud of her! Unfortunately she didn't place but I'm thrilled she gave it everything she had. She sent me a pic of the souvenir shirt she bought. All her friends bought the same one. After the meet they took over Noodles & Co. and she said she had the BEST time with her teammates on the bus ride back to school!

One of these days I will figure out how to orient pics. Yeah, yeah...do it in Paint. I don't have that on my phone! :-/Last edited by Mac; 02-28-2015 at 03:50 PM.
