I recall reading that interview! Thought to myself, "good for you, girl!"
Understand I'm not anti-surgery, just anti-stupid.
In my own case, I was told I would need a hip replacement AND spinal fusion L4-S1...and that surgery was unavoidable plus there wasn't a natural, non-surgical way to reverse my osteoarthritis. Well I have x-rays to prove otherwise, thanks to my current chiro and Dr. John Bergman

I can't count the number of competitors who said their doc told them they could never compete again. Later on they won competitions. Your doc doesn't manage your health. YOU do.

THIS!
It doesn't help that there is so much outdated information circulating. I thought it was common knowledge by now that low fat, high carb diets were bad. Until I was sitting in an office recently, waiting for my husband to see his doc. There was a video playing and the information was all low fat, high carb "let's make some 'heart healthy' muffins!" Now I could understand a moderate fat, low carb or paleo-type or gluten-free muffin, but this recipe was loaded with what they called "heart healthy" canola oil and tons of refined carbs! Not a single wholesome carb, protein, or fat in the batch. Can you say "type 3 diabetes" (aka Alzheimers)?! I nearly tore the screen off the wall.Last edited by Sunnyday; 05-23-2017 at 08:59 AM.

Exactly!
Today's medical system is all about disease management, not improving health. Docs have been taught to use meds to alter physiology rather than determine the underlying cause for a conditition - forget trying to REVERSE the condition, get the patient back OFF the meds, and make him/her healthier!
Stumbling across John Bergman's site a few months ago was life changing for me. Made me rethink a lot about diet and lifestyle. (the deep sleep info is awesome!) Highly recommend his site!

In my last couple of posts I mentioned Dr. John Bergman. Every Tuesday he does a health talk titled, "True Health Tuesdays" and he posts the vids on YouTube later in the week. This just in: starting with tonight's talk, he's going LIVE! I've been following these weekly vids since mid-march and I'm so amped to see him live!

Understand, there are some points on diet that would completely contradict what we as bodybuilders do. So take what you hear him say with a grain of salt, knowing that his goal (and most of his patients' goals) isn't about optimal performance in the gym but optimal health and longevity. It's caused me to rethink how and why I do what I do with my lifestyle, including my training goals.2016 RX Member of the Year & March 2015 Member of the Month

I loved Rocky Bleier's story. Doctors told him he might never walk again (after he "was wounded in the left thigh by an enemy rifle bullet" in Vietnam) much less play football, but he showed them through his work ethic and positive attitude as he came back to help the Steelers win Super Bowls!
"Bleier played in the first four Steeler Super Bowl victories, and caught the touchdown pass from Terry Bradshaw that gave Pittsburgh a lead it would never surrender in Super Bowl XIII. He also recovered Dallas's onside kick in the closing seconds, sealing the Steelers' victory."

Sorry to hijack Sunny.
Two very prominent Doctors told me at age 16 that I wouldn't live to see 30 because of my Crohn's disease.
Idiots...

Why stop at 90? My grandmother made it to 104! And that was with no medical care, poor nutrition, no supps, etc. The human body is designed to live to 120. I say go for at least 100 and send a letter to the docs' great-grandchildren on how it's done!
