Hey guys!
I’m swamped but it’s a good thing. Still walking with a cane but IMO that is a good thing because I’m not limping for the first time in oooooh....maybe 6 years?! I am actually using my left foot and rolling across it rather than throw my left leg out in front of me to walk so that’s good. Still some intermittent spasms but that’s par for the course in getting back to baseline. Training has been SOLID! Mmmk...
Just when I thought I had time to post in here life took over again lol. Oh well.
My hip is super mobile which is fantastic but the downside is that it’s extremely unstable so for the time being I’m staying away from all things barbell until I can get some stability in this thing. Another issue I’ve been dealing with is on and off numbness in the 3 middle toes of my right foot (bad hip is the left one). Still don’t know why it’s happening - I have degeneration L4 through S1. Something might have gotten irritated by all the heavy standing calf raises so I stopped doing them to see if the numbness subsides.
So work arounds it is! LOL. My specialty.
Hit upper body today
Bunch of mobility work and dynamic stretching plus DB and cable exercises for shoulder prehab
10 min on the stationary bike (gasp!) - this is more like 10 minutes of hell because my left psoas likes to surprise me by going into sudden painful spasms without any rhyme, reason, or forewarning. Usually by the 8 minute mark I’m ok.
Flat DB press:
20s x 10
25s x 10
30s x 10
35s x 10
3 x 40s x 10
Incline DB press ss leaning DB row:
30s x 8 ss 30s x 8 (3 rounds)
Incline DB fly ss reverse DB fly:
20s x 8 ss 20s x 8 (3 rounds)
Wide grip pullups ss seated Y press:
BW+10 x 5 ss 25s x 8 (3 rounds)
Six ways:
3 x 5s x 8
Ended 3rd set with 30 partials

Still nursing myself back to 100%. It is what it is. That’s not to say I’m not training though. I’ve been training daily just not extremely heavy. Plenty of videos of training highlights on my IG.
DB external rotation stuff:

Face pulls, even reps paused:

Straight arm pulldowns:

Bench press (competition style, paused at top, on chest, and at lockout, rinse and repeat lol):

This was our last Saturday of training at the old Exile facility. Next Saturday I’ll be helping out at the bench-deadlift meet that my friend Brian is directing. If you’re in the area come on by to watch my freaky strong friends and say hi to me. I’ll be at the scoring table taking everyone’s attempts. Lifting starts at 9 am!

Just don't out bench press us both...
It would be great but doubt it will fit into my schedule until August, heading to South Carolina to see my mom who is getting out of the hospital on Monday. That would be awesome to meet you both!

bar x 1 x 10 sec descent then 10 regular speed reps

sad that just a year ago I was hitting close to 175 for that many sets and reps. Sigh
RDLs:

Sumo deads:
4 x 132 x 1 felt awful, a friend kicked me in the butt and told me get er done
so I did
8 x 143 x 1 with 45-60 sec rests. Vid on my IG if anyone cares
Reverse crunch ss traditional floor crunch:
15 ss 15 (3 rounds)
Unilateral standing calves:
3 x 5 x 5-sec hold at top and 3-sec hold at bottom, each leg
Glute circuit with heavy band (no rest between sides/exercises):
