DMSO Anybody Still Using It?
Had a pretty bad shoulder injury a few weeks ago that continues to nag and hamper my training. I started remembering the days when we would paint some DMSO on and it really seemed to help recovery. Yea I know, it will suck the dye out of your clothing and it makes you smell but Icy Hot just ain't getting the job done.

I've only used it on horses as a linament...I've never wanted to use it, it stinks. But the horses never complained, so what the hell why not?

Doesn't it make your mouth taste gross? I would never willingly put that stuff on my skin...ugh.

Boyer Coe was a advocate on DMSO's anti- inflammitory properties. He said he couldn't train without the stuff.
But yeah, the stuff is nasty and will "suck" anything through your skin so be safe with it.

The last time I got some I had to get it at a horse Tack shop. You apply it with a Q-tip or plain cotton balls. It must be dried before you can wear clothing because it sucks dyes out of cloth. I'm telling you, it really sped up recovery from injuries in the 80's. It was originally sold as a cleaning solvent and YES, it gives you horrible garlic breath. It is also very unstable. At about 50 degrees it will freeze solid? We use to use the 99% DMSO and it will burn your skin.

Well I've never used the DMSO but if you can find it, Plo-Gel works wonders!!!! I just can't find the source anymore. If you do find something please let me know!

It is very popular in the powerlifting and strongman world. I have never used it but I do use other horse liniments that are weaker. The DMSO will make you smell like a fucking barn yard, and I believe it can be toxic if you get too much in your system at once. I know some people that will crush up an aspirin and mix the powder and DMSO together and apply to injured areas....not sure if that really helps injury though

DMSO draws whatever you mix with it through the skin into the underlying tissue, so mixing with analgesic or anti-inflammatory is a popular choice...but it makes your mouth taste like moldy burnt garlicbread (at best) - it's disgusting. Better left to horses.

They make a rose-scented cream that actually is tolerable. I used to mess around with it for transdermal experiments. If I remember correctly, anything with a molecular weight below 500 (500 what I can't remember, been forever!) would be carried by dmso through the skin and into the body. So, back in the day I tried it with tren, 1-ad, stuff like that. More trouble than it's worth imo, but useful for a few certain hard to use items like formestane powder.

I used to use it all the time! One time during football season i had pulled my hamstring and dislocated my shoulder in the same week, so i put it on from my ass cheek to like an inch above my calf, and than all over my shoulder. I went to sleep, got up and went to school and went through all my classes like i normally would and in my last class of the day right as i walk into the room my friend goes "OMG YOU SMELL LIKE A PILE OF OYSTER SHIT" hahaha. Later i asked my other friends and they were like "oh god i didn't want to say anything" pretty embarrassing lol.
