any vegetarians out there?
I'm not going to lie, I have never been so sick of meat related protein in my life....and that's a huge statement coming from me b/c I love to eat some meat! (insert dirty joke here)....anywho, I have looked at going vegetarian with minimal animal sources (ie, I would prob still do items like greek yogurt, cheese, egg wht, maybe some seafood)....but I am concerned about getting my protein in....I cannot do soy so that is out....I don't like too many carbs but do realize sources like quinoa and legumes are higher protein....what am I leaving out to make this work?

true....I'm just surprised at my sudden displeasure of animal related sources of protein....it's not like they haven't been in my diet before! hahahahaha....
my mindset for training has been different, too....I used to want to only lift heavy and low reps but now I'm more into plyometrics, sprints, combo moves (like squat into overhead press or kettlebell swings into presses)....

Of my 6 daily meals I use animal protein in only 2 meals. I get the rest of my protein from cotttage cheese, eggs, egg whites, Whey and at least 2x a week I'll throw some fish in there.
I LOVE red meat, but I'll usually save that for my weekend cheat.

Staying in tune w/ the direction you've found, sort of crossfit-ish, you might check out things like paleo diets or intermittant fasting. I've got some very hardcore crossfit friends, former BBs, who are deeply into paleodieting.

you know, I'm wondering if I could make the ALRI Humapro work in place of all the usual protein and just load up on veggies and eventually clean carbs like sweet potato and legumes....

My own opinion -- don't make protein mix a staple, and your only protein source. Just have a feeling you might develop an allergy to it, might not be as complete a protein as you really should have, not enough variety, and not real food.

it's not a mix....go read the what is humapro and how do you use it thread in the ALRI forum...it's some interesting stuff!
besides, I can't do most protein powders anyway....they almost all have splenda

Actually, that's not a bad idea... I was talking to Author last week and he mentioned that he was looking for more people for before/afters for this.
"The gym is one of life's best arenas for building the toughest of men. Not because you learn to experience success, but because you've been forced to accept failure and identify your flaws."

I stand corrected but did check it out -- I"d be interested as well .. but my thought would be that one protein source and only one might eventually produce some issue ... but I'm all ears for what Author has to say. I've got a whole off-season where I want to try some different things.
Experiment away!

I was thinking maybe a one month experiment? could be a good "cleanser" of sorts....certainly would give me a break from all the usual protein sources!

I'm a vegetarian, and looking to get into better shape. I'd just be happy to lose 10 lbs! 5'2" 137 lbs. had my bf measured at the Y and hit into 32%!!!! I know the diet is a big part but since I don't eat meat or fish I'm having a hard time getting into the diet. I do like eggs, tofu, soy milk, cheese, etc. but no chicken or fish. Can I just swap out the salmon/tuna for tofu? do I need a special diet made up? Any sample plans I can use to get started?

I just started being a vegan, doing it for 2 weeks already. Will it be healthy if I add some exercise with this diet? Like one this Personal Training Chicago that I have found from other thread. I am anemic so I havent tried to do some exercise while I am on this vegan diet.
