Hi Mark, I was wondering do you ever advocate the use of high frequency and volume training methods like smolov or sheiko, or do you always stick with the ME method??
Also, regarding assistance training, what do the supertraining guys do? I always see the deadlift and squat vids online, but have wondered if there's any specific assistance protocol you guys follow? Thanks!

    Diabetic Muscle,

when squatting you want to always keep your knee as high as possible. I'll say that again this time think it over. When squatting keep your knee as high as possible. Your knee comes down and forward towards the bottom of the lift. Open
up through the groin, push out on your feet and force your knees outward towards where your feet are. Think about a sissy squat. Tons of knee bending going on but you still don't get "depth" as per the rules of PL.

Squat on to a 20 inch box with the straps down using 70% of your max.
Go down 1 inch per set until you feel you are at least at parallel. Use the same weight or add just about 10 pouds to each attempt.

Makes sense, I see what you mean now that you pointed it out. Perhaps add some band adductions at the end of my ME Squat and DY Squat days. First time running WSBB template and I won't lie the CNS is getting beat to shit. haha

I know you've probably heard it a million times but I loved The Movie. Actually, went to an Indy film theater in Chicago when it came out and bought it right after. I still pop it in from time to time.

So..question..you said in the movie that your students didn't know you juiced. What was the reaction when they saw the movie and they found out you did?

Smelly: I personally stick with the Westside method. I have gone outside that bubble but with very little success. I wrote an article for Power that outlines what we do at Super Training. The issue is out on newsstand right now with Louie Simmons on the cover. Currently some barnes and nobles and boarders carry Power. We have a data base of the places that have Power at www.ThePowermagazine.com.

Smelly: we use the repetition method other wise known as bodybuilding. 3-4x8-12 reps on 3-5 exercises. Sample workout from the video I posted above goes as follows.

    Reverse band deadlifts
    705 1x2
    755 1x3 I kinda missed my 2nd rep

    Camebered Bar
4-5 sets taking them as low as I could

    Glute Ham raises
4 sets some for a few

    Weighted sit ups
    4 sets some for a few.... I don't count I just go.

    Reverse Hyper
2 sets a lot of reps light weight.

It is a movie, so that was not entirely true. I told many kids individually but had to lie in front of the whole team and coaches. I didn't see Any negative feedback from my community.

What is your opinion on raw lifters using the Westside method?
Westside has worked for every type of lifter raw or otherwise.
Stan Efferding used Westside and totaled 2221 raw at 275. Konstantine Konstanov uses a westside style when it comes to his dead lifting.

I just got all the issues of your magazine via download. Cool magazine. Can you throw in a couple articles on building strongman implements and how to use power lifting equipment such as bench shirts or belts.
