I agree that there are a lot of charlatans out there that engage in this cold reading you speak of. However, exceptions do exist. Someone that is legitimate will insist that they want no prior knowledge regarding the person they are about to read, nothing but a first name. Then they will do their reading to you, good ones will be able to state your profession, marital status, current and past health issues and so forth. They will be able to tell you about loved ones that have passed on and should be able to state the exact circumstances of their death. They will be able to tell you about current dilemmas and relationship issues you may be having amongst other things. If most of these things are revealed accurately right off the bat, then the person being read can have confidence that they really are speaking with a real psychic. A good example of someone legitimate is Mary T Browne, who has a private practice out in New York city.

Well, its not devoid in the minds of thousands of believers. The evidence that supports the supernatural is devoid in the marketplace of those that choose to only adhere to the ideology of strict scientific thought. Those that are more flexible in their thinking often see it in a different manner. As far as the burden of proof goes, your mind has already been made up, there is nothing that can be presented that could change your mind. You will make up a scientific THEORY to explain ANY evidence one might present to you, and I believe this to be a fact and a symptom of a rigid mind, unwilling to consider new ideas that may differ from the norm of traditional scientific thought. You made the claim that I have merely seen what I wanted to see when I witnessed the sigh of apparitions during the night. I'll tell you straight out that I did not want these experiences and that they scared the hell of me to the point where I slept with a dim light on for days. That night when I woke up watching and feeling my mattress rising up and down, even when I was lying perfectly still, you assume that I wanted to experience that terror. NO Sir, I did not; the instance where I woke up and seen the clear outline of a woman lying on her side facing away from me. This was not a hallucination, no amount of pinching myself and slapping my myself in the face could instantly eradicate this sight. The night where I felt my face being forcefully slapped, you dismissed as evidence that it was a 'physical' experience and thus could be explained as some kind of physical phenomena. Yeah, it WAS a physical experience and I could agree that it was some kind of physical phenomena, but it is one for which I can give no scientific explanation for and neither can you. This is why I consider the experience 'paranormal, or 'supernatural'. Supernatural meaning it can not be explained within the variables of the 5 natural senses. And until you experience things of this nature in your own life, if ever, then you'll probably make the same erroneous assumptions with everybody that talks of having similar experiences, and there are thousands of people out there that have, just do your research on the web and you'll find them. In conclusion, If I haven't proven anything to you on behalf of my claims for supernatural phenomena, then so be it, but on the other hand, you can't prove that its not. I do appreciate you reading what I had to say and taking your time out to respond.
