Mike, you are an inspiration more than you know. I always refer to you when I hear somebody whining about why they can't squat because their knee hurts! I always tell them about a guy I know in Florida that refuses to give in!

Thanks Joel. This has been a difficult week. I see all my hard earned muscle drifting away. Haven't been in the gym all week. There's a point of hitting bottom and recovering. I'm there, got getting my head back on straight. Yesterday was a good start. Had 2 different kids come by and want help from The Hammer. Once i started talking, couldn't stop. Those are the days that make me get up and feel good about myself. I must be doing something right to get so much respect from the young guys.
I have my consult with knee surgeon Monday. I think I will be back on track when he gives me a surgery date. Knee has been collapsing alot lately.
Gonna wrap that damn thing up and squat today!

30 mile cycling thru Gulf Shores State Park. This was easiest ride we have had so far. Must be improving.
Started using CPAP machine to sleep with because of severe sleep apnea diagnosed while I was in hospital. Took couple weeks to get accustomed to and find right fit mask. It's crazy to wake up so droggy because you have been in deep sleep. Honestly wonder if I've really slept in years. I thought it was my prostrate making me get up 4-5 times a night. I was wrong! I sleep undisturbed now for 8 hours! You wake up feeling like you have been in coma!

Just got back from surgeons visit. Knee surgery scheduled for Nov. 13th. I'm very excited, I've dealing with this bone on bone piece if crap for over 2 decades!
Awesome news is my surgeon is an Olympic weightlifter! How cool is it when your surgeon ask how much is your max deadlift?!
He looked at the "good" knee too. Said maybe you should keep the squats like way under the 500lb mark, you're wearing it out faster than normal. So I asked if 400 was ok and he said yes.
I am so looking forward to squatting with 2 good legs!
I also asked if I would be ready by July 2015 for nationals. He said should be! My missing piece has always been the lack of symmetry in my quads. He thinks he can fix that!

Got some great leg training in today with my beautiful training partner. It's pretty humbling now that my work sets are with the weight I was using for warmups, but what the heck, better than not training at all which is what I have been doing the last 2 weeks. Hopefully I got my head out of my ass now and will keep this up.
5 sets of 20 rep leg extensions
4 work sets of bb back squats
5 sets of leg press x 20 reps last set was for 40 reps
that was plenty, I'll be sore as hell tomorrow!Last edited by Hammerfit; 09-01-2014 at 06:08 PM.
