went in today and tried to do some one arm stuff.....fuck that! Made me feel even worse. Tomorrow all out leg training again.
Got more bad news...MRI showed even more extensive damage than they thought. Surgeon said he could not repair so they are now bringing a specialist which is delaying the surgery. Hoping to get on surgery schedule late next week or early the following week.
Dealing with this stress is the hardest part, oh well life goes on!

Shit. Lets pray that the new Surgeon can get that attachment perfect.
My late wife was not all that funny but she had her moments. On one of her many pre ops with multiple surgeons she actually grabbed one Doc by the balls and said, "Now promise me you will do this perfect the first time". Could work for you????

Damn that's not what we hoped for. Ok regroup. The Chinese proverb about Crises being Opportunity may be germane here. Good luck!

hang in there Mike it is tough esp for you. Other than online never met you but it is safe to that you are if not the hardest working bodybuilder around one of them. Of course this forum has alot of guys that can fit that category.
Mike hang in there and get it done properly even if you have to wait to see another specialist.
Make sure he is top notch. I work in the medical field for this you want to best.

Finally got in yesterday to meet with the surgeon who is going to re-attach my bicep tendon. It was a sombering conversation to say the least. Topics covered:
Heavy deadlifts days are over. Bicep tendon strength will be reduced by 20%+/- and very succeptable to to re-reputure with heavy stress.
I'm ok with that.....this past year I have lifted 526.6 in my first ever PL meet. I have done 3 reps with wraps in gym with 675lbs off floor and 765 from below knees on rack so what do I have to prove anyway?!
This will be a single incision procedure which will be a large incision which hopefully will avoid any nerve damage, that part of discussion was a bit unnerving but I understood. There is also a possibility of the bones fusing together...whatever that meant (Im not even going to imagine that possibility)
4 weeks in cast then 4 weeks of rehab before lifting at all. He said the worse thing we were going to be facing is having someone like me be patient and not rush back which would also cause rupture again. I will try and work on that one! He said it would take 8-12 months to get back to normal training again.......OMG, I actually started shaking when he said that.
Being the strongest 50 something guy around has always been a sense of pride and I will continue to strive to be the best I can be with what I have to work with. I think this is going to make me wiser and look for even more forward thinking methods to build and maintain muscle into my mature years.
I feel sorry for my legs cause Im going to be pounding them 3 times a week for the next 8-12 months!Last edited by Hammerfit; 11-29-2012 at 11:28 AM.
