^^^^^^^^^^^ I vote for this
Confucius say...
A ripped guy who eats a pizza, then does an hour of cardio is still ripped.
A fat guy who eats a pizza, then does an hour of cardio is still fat.

Mike, from my personal experience. The only Protein I know that you can run CLOSE to showtime is Natures Best ISOPURE Zero Carb. Onlt bc its a no bloat. When I was in school to get Masters in Nutrition, my professor had us do a thesis paper on food supplementation for solids, and the biggest reason, atleast from a medical standpoint, is it has a much higher digestibility rate, which will leave you FLAT, but at the same time if not totally digested, it has a tendancy to stick to the stomach wall, which will inevitably give a bloated appearance/feeling. So its almost like a double edged sword. Nothing beats whole foods bro. Hope this helps you out.

It all depends on the person and how their metabolis rate is....Rememebr some competitors don't work, work as personal trainers or just work part-time, they have time to eat all 7-8 meals of whole foods, and some do use "help" to burn more calories...Me: I have kept whey shakes with water in my pre-contest diet until Wednesday the week of the show and always come in shredded and dry to the bone. Also, with my job, I don't have the luxury to eat 3-4 food meals at work, another reason why I incorporate shakes in my diet...

My personal opinion is that we waaaaayyyyyy overthink things like this. I have used shakes for 25 years and have had nothing but good results. IMOP the more we stress over things like this the more we screw things up!!! As they say KEEP DOING WHAT GOT YOU THERE!!!

i think a shake should only be used if you cant fit real food in. food is always better than any sup. also the other points made above. hunger and bloat that comes from most.
