Testosterone levels.. Normal isn't necessarily optimal
Just found this blogger last night.
She posts some excellent articles on relationships.. particularly in the area of sexuality, which I highly recommend. I would have posted this in the Relationship thread, but hardly anoyone visits there! lol!!
Anyway, this particular article deals with optimal test level ranges based on your age.
At the bottom of the article there's a follow up on finding an HRT specialist.

I was at 450 when I got on trt so I was in the normal range but after a few months of supplementation only then did I realise how bad I felt at "normal" levels.

I got my T tested recently it's up from 350 to 550. I don't notice any difference, my recovery is average and desire for sex could be higher. 44 years old. I wonder about these tests. I'm not on trt or anything else.

This is the way that I look at it and it was explained to me by a doctor in this fashion: If you had high blood pressure, would you take just enough medication to get you just under the 'high' mark, or would you use enough to get your blood pressure in a relatively safer zone? Of course you would do the latter.
So why take just enough test (as TRT) to get you just above the 'low' number win the scale? You want to be closer too 1,000, the higher end of the scale.

Carl Lanore gave what I thought was a great illustration. He described a warehouse with a hundred lights and how over the years a light or two would burn out every so often. Over a span of time you wouldn't notice the lights getting dimmer because the decline in illumination was gradual, but that if you replaced all those lights at once then you'd realize just how dark the warehouse had been.
