Yes- they have it in Jersey. I haven't tried it yet, but the nail place near my job has it (Edgewater) and the one in my town has it as well (Hudson County). I know a girl in Morris County who got it done up there as well.
I'm going to gibe it a try soon since I stopped getting the acrylics, and I HATE keeping up with nail maintaince.

What is the difference between this and the no chip nail polish they have out now?

As I understand it...I think this is how it works:
The shellac is set with a UV cure, not air-dry. Chemically speaking it is a much more durable polymer than the air-dry traditional nail polish. The shellac forms a significantly thicker coat that (seems to me) to bond with your nail, whereas traditional nail polish will only sit on top of the nail. The no-chip stuff can be removed with any old nail polish remover (dilute acetone, dilute ethyl acetate) but the shellac requires a much stronger solvent to dissolve it from your nail. The acetone still doesn't dissolve the cured shellac, though, only where it makes contact with your nail. Traditional nail polish gets dissolved by the remover.

That sounds like the shellac.

Yeah Gail, Sunnyday pretty much described it right. The "no chip" sounds like the same thing as shellac. It last about 2 weeks, then there is regrowth so I get them redone at about that interval.
They say they don't do it on toes and I wonder why? (Although toe polish does last a lot longer on me than on finger nails.)
