leanest?
No i was down under 10% last year, but I could not get lower.. I did daves diet to get back in a good of season shape.... I was really up there for a while with low T... got that under control...
I used dave for 28 weeks on keto, by the end I kept getting smaller and weaker.. but only did the 1 cheat the whole time....
dave is a ball buster on the one meal, I kept telling him i was losing muscle and getting weaker and needed to carb up... he cut the cheats at the end....
i felt like fuck....
I tried to stay lean in the off season for 4 months, but I got puffy on 240g carbs....
so carbs are not good for me.... this year I dieted with him again for 14 weeks and i really didn't make much progress...
I keep hearing that I need a higher carb up so I hit it hard this past weekend... over cheated.. since I do eat clean.....
You can't tell by my pics.... It looks like I eat like shit.. I have been eating well since the 90's..... I have my cheats here and there....
from last year till now, I eat only BB food.,..
now I am in full keto... It seems that if i get a small cheat like a potato on wed and then a bigger cheat on sat i can do just fine on keto....
if I go all 7 days before a cheat my body just goes flat, no pumps, and I lose srtength.. lots of it...

not trying to hijack the keto thread. but i've been reading about a lot of guys struggling to get lean lately. most are doing keto or low carb.
if they do get lean, they complain about being flat.
yes i have had success with keto and losing fat, but like most
i didnt look that great on it. certainly not full and ripped like i am now
all the time.
i just took this pic to show some of you who may never have seen my pics
before. no i do not compete , just a regular guy who works out and follows
a strict diet. this is what i my arm looks like all the time. no pump, no carb up,
no refeed. i'm just saying if keto isn't working the way you want, dont be afraid to try something else.

nice arms bro
I do look flat with keto, and dave says that is good so you don't carb up too much and overspill.... I have tried a bunch of things in the last 25 years.... I used to be able eat anything and stay lean... now at 42, and since low t, it is been a challenge...
I still like the keto, just need to modify it to my bodies needs....
higr fat tends to be working for me....
I will keep you posted

BC I've seen a number of your pics and they are impressive for sure. But you have to remember not everybody has the advantage of having synthetic testosterone flowing through their veins year round. Not to mention any other "goodies" you might be throwing in the mix. You know how to train and your diet is perfect but there is no way someone could look that full, hard and vascular all the time w/o drugs.

this is true, unless that person was a genetic freak, which i am not.
but you would be surprised at how many guys at the gym take
test even relative low dose hrt like me. they just dont look like it.
i honestly believe its because most people dont eat the way
they say they do.
i dont know man, i just wish i could help some of these guys more
that are struggling to get in the shape they want.

I had the same problem with keto and have read no lie about 50 other post usually naturals talking about how they never look right either too flat or too bloated from the cheat... loss of muscle and never ripped.... it simply does not work for nattys... maybe a small percentage... but like bc said clean food all the time is prolly best with lower carbs but carbs every day.... the problem is when you go back to carbs do it SLOW... start with like 30gs pwo.... then add to prewo.... then meal one.... week by week.. keto is terrible and extreme for long periods of time

I agree, I followed Dave's diet last summer and ended up 167lbs and on my way to skinny fat. I've read in one of Dave's old Q&As that 80% of the glucose used for workouts is created in the liver via gluconeogenesis. I honestly believe the best muscle building diet is one that gives just enough carbs to fuel your workouts, then protein/fat for the rest of the day. There is even literature out that stating PWO carbs are counterproductive.

I've read Mauro DiPasquale's Anabolic Solution and in the book he says that rapidly refilling muscle glycogen blunts the release of GH, inhibits the use of fat as a fuel source and actually decreases anabolism by limiting protein synthesis. I guess once muscle glycogen is refilled they kinda say "alrite well we don't need anything else, we're good now" So, by limiting pwo carbs, you can stay anabolic for hours after workouts. Right now I'm doing 30g dextrose pwo and seems to be fine.

keto
I will say I have to agree with you guys. too long on kwto will kick your ass... I did 28 weeks with dave and he killed me.. no regrets, i learned a lot...
I tend to do better with oatmeal before wo... 1-2 srvs.... then one after
keeps me going and I tend to work harder with weights....
I was up to 2.5 hrs of cardio last 4-6 weeks with him... I dwindled away
so flat that I could not carb up for my show, had no pump at all from back stage.....

Im following daves diet for a 200lb male but I am using the ON gold standard whey as my protien shake.
24g protien and 3g carbs a scoop @ 6 scoops a day thats 18g of carbs. Is that ok? Should I lose some peanut butter?
Or some of my nuts with meals?
Cheers
