i was thinking of pumpkin seeds, Flax oil and seeds, and fish oils.

I don't recommend significant amounts of pumpkin seeds (high omega-6) and I totally do not recommend flax oil. Ground seeds are okay, but you want most of your omega-3s to be fish oil. As far as a good liquid I highly recommend Carlson's liquid fish oil.

Because it doesn't use resonating microwave radiation frequencies to heat your food

you mean it doesn't scramble the molecules of my food? LOL

Why do you recommend almonds instead of english walnuts, which are king of omega-3s?

Two reasons: 1. Very high PUFA content and they go bad very quickly. Fresh is fine, but store bought ones especially shelled are usually garbage. I have English walnut trees behind my place so I know what fresh is like.... 2. They contain about 4x as much omega-6 as omega-3s.

There's no way you can balance this unless you like to chug flax oil, which, btw, is not recommended. High amounts of omega-6 fats reduce insulin sensitivity, and controlling insulin is paramount for body composition changes.

    2. Peanuts contain goitrogens, which inhibit iodine uptake in the thyroid. Roasting the peanuts helps reduce goitrogenic content, but doesn't eliminate it, and taking more iodine doesn't make up for high amount of goitrogens.

    3. Contamination of carcinogenic substance aflotoxin which is a result of mold contamination. Some brands are good but I question the commercial non-organic brands and eating significant amounts of peanut butter and chronic exposure to low levels of it.

    4. Contains inflammatory lectins which should especially be avoided by people with inflammatory bowel diseases. It would also be a good idea to avoid for people with many food allergies and sensitivities.
    Hey Frosty!

I'm a sufferer (think I've mentioned before I have crohn's) I don't eat peanuts or peanut butter but I do eat a lot of sweet potato's for my carb up which I've read contains the same lectins, is that right or is it just scaremongering from the paleo groups? I heard Loren Cordain on a superhuman radio podcast saying that potatoe's are one of the worst things to eat because of this?

There are lectins in pretty much any plant food, but it's the type that matters. The ones in peanuts seem to be more problematic in some people than say, the lectins in bananas.

Almond butter is MUCH better than peanut butter. However macadamia nut butter, avocados, and extra virgin olive oil are better choices.

Much obliged dude! I guess the infrequent nature of eating these only when I carb up once/twice a week makes it fine to eat I guess!

Yeah, quantity matters...a lot. That's one reason the use of peanut butter in a keto diet concerns me...you got guys that may go through a jar of peanut butter in almost a week!

Good to know, Ill have to find somewhere that sells this in AZ...Ive tried before but couldnt find it. Is there a specific place you get yours from?

Also, what are your thoughts on Mauro DiPasquale's anabolic diet and using it as a way to gain lean mass?
