That's why I typically stick to Xylitol gum, that sugar alcohol gives no IBS and helps your teeth/gut.

You keep talking about Xylitol. It sounded familiar and I didn't know why but I remembered. I just watched a video, on another thread, about how fructose is basicaly poison. One of the intermediates of fructose metabolism in the liver is xylulose-6-phosphate which is about where xylitol enters the pathway. The xylulose-6-p, after a couple more intermediates, is converted to enzymes that use citrate (from the citric acid cycle) to synthesise fat. Doesn't sound that great to me.
I haven't studied this extensively so someone correct me if anything I've said is wrong.
Artificial sweeteners aren't all that they are cracked up to be. This is why I find it's best to alot certain times to consume sweets that aren't on your every day menu.

The xylitol is a sugar alcohol, not an artificial sweetner per se. The reason I like it is I have really bad/soft/porous teeth and I'm prone to cavities. My dentist recommended I use a xylitol gum to help keep out bacteria (in addition to perscription fluoride tooth paste). Since I started using it, no cavities.
It also creates no insulin response since it's metabolized in the liver. It also doesn't fully digest so it helps with gut health. xylitol.org has a lot of good info on it, but you're talking way above my level, so I don't know!

Dr.John's also makes Xylitol hard candy and suckers that are good!
The WF stuff all tastes gross to me! Only the syrup and salad dressings I can handle.....the rest I can live without!
