Sandusky's case is really alarming and should be solved as soon as possible due to the fact that it might affect the lives of the PSU's students and their respective parents who are the major stockholders of the institution and might even lead to much destructive problems.

Charges involving claimed sexual abuse of young men by previous Penn State football defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky has now called the conduct of head coach Joe Paterno into question. I found this here: Fallout from Sandusky abuse case brings Paterno into question. Attorneys acquainted with the continuing court suit of previous Penn State football defensive coordinator Gerald Arthur “Jerry” Sandusky have observed that head coach Joe Paterno may not face criminal charges for reporting Sandusky's alleged sexual abuse of an underage child to the school's athletic director instead of regulators.

How do you think the media will handle Joe P. going forward?

Do you think, as with other former coaches, he would get a job as a color analyst?
Will ESPN have him on College Game Day?

I'm thinking @ age 84, he probably wouldn't want to do that anyway, and simply retreat to a quieter life like Bowden.

^^No one is going to touch him esp. ESPN. It would be a public relations nightmare!

That's not what I read. According to the NYT, he invited the athletic director to his house the next day to discuss the matter. The authorities said nothing about whether he followed up on the allegation or whether he ever confronted Sandusky. What prosecutors do contend in detail is that Sandusky went on to abuse at least one and perhaps any number of other young boys after Paterno and other senior officials at Penn State were told the assault.

If he pursued the issue with the university administration, I am inclined to agree with you. I am not sure it was his obligation to directly notify the police, assuming he took steps to make sure the university authorities were investigating the allegations. But if that conversation with the athletic director was rather a discussion of how best to to protect the reputation of the the school and the team, then that's a different matter.

And, we still haven't heard Paterno's side of the story yet...

I may not have been following this story as close as others, but from what i have read, this was a systematic fail on the part of the entire athletic admin at penn state....of which joepa played a role....major or minor, he played a role...he is saying he should have done more, but its easy to say that now, and seeing the severity of the allegations (someone actually walking in on a young boy getting violated) sandusky shouldnt have been able to be within 100 miles of penn state, none the less run a program for kids....

Heads have to roll....media or not, these types of crimes come with consequences for everyone who knew and did not do enough....

It's a little suspicious to me that the first assault took place in 98 and he retired in 99.
Everybody knows of Joe Pa's power within and outside of the University; he was a GOD!
If his players got into fights at the bars in town he knew about it b4 the fight was even broken up.

Is that really necessary? Even of you don't like the guy there is no need to post in a thread that's 3 months old to crack a joke about a guy that died

I agree it's sad how a lifetime of nobility and of being a beacon of morality and good character was seemingly lost in a matter of three months. What is even sadder is that 10 year old boys were being butt-fucked on campus, and he never followed through on it. Anything short of going to the police or killing the pedophile is a moral failing. This also goes for that red headed piece of shit who witnessed it and his only action was to tell Jo-Pa. Just think, if big red would have went straight to the police, Jo-Pa's legacy and what not would be so much different as the onus would never have been on him.
