Aceto vs Palumbo Mass Gain Diet
Just interesting in people's opinions here.
Both Chris and Dave seem really cool guys, and for both their results speak for themselves. But just wandering what peoples' experiences are with using either of their mass gain diets?
From what i've gathered (though please correct me if I'm wrong), Chris goes with:
1g protein / lb lean body weight
2g carbs / lb lea body weight
Minimal fat (except animal fat found in protein sources)
and Dave goes with:
1.5g protein / lb lean body weight
1 - 1.5g carbs / lb lean body weight
0.75g fat / lb lean body weight
I know it's probably to do with lifestyle and age etc, and maybe activity levels outside the gym, but I'm curious if one is more suited to a natty or not?
I'm probably overanalyzing with this, but just interested! Personally, I find my digestive system doesn't handle many carbs too well - I get REALLY gassy, so for that reason lean towards lower carbs.

I don't follow either of them really, but my macro breakdown is closer to Dave's. Healthy fats treat me VERY well.

As an additional question, does anyone know what's up with me getting so gassy from eating carbs? I never used to have a problem before doing the keto diet, but that was like a year and a half ago! Could I have maybe developed some kind of gluten intolerence or something? I get almost all my carbs from oats apart from post workout, as I figured these are best as they're so low GI. I'm confused about whether Waxy Maize is low GI or not - I mean could it be an option for me to switch to Waxy Maize as my main carb source instead of oats, if it might help stop me getting so gassy since its in liquid form?
Thanks!

I'm not sure why your getting so gassy but I've takin waxy maize for a while and I'm a big believer of it, I wouldn't use it as your main carb source bc it is so fast absorbing. It gets absorbed in your stomach in as little as 20 min. It's great pre workout for a great pump but taking too much can really kill your stomach. Honestly no matter your size I'd say no reason to take more than 40g PreWO AND PWO.
Maybe try switching up and experimenting with other carbs, brown rice, sweet pots, quinoa, cream of wheat. Just try one for a week or so and find one your body can handle.
Good luck

Not that I'm anyone to question The Technician's methods but I just can't understand any low fat diet especially when bulking.

I personally like a combo - high protein, low glycemic carbs and healthy fats

Thanks for the input guys.
I probably won't bother trying waxy maize then. But I'm surprised you say its the oats that are the problem though. I guess I'll try switching to sweet potato, or maybe brown rice?

yes but it is easier for fat to be stored as fat than carbs to be stored as fat..
i haven't given any input as to which i think is better just answering the OP's question explaining the differences
my personal opinion is a bit of a combination of the two.. chris aceto's method with some omega 3's to balance out the omega 6's you'll be getting with the meat and maybe some more EFA's on top of it

When I was taking weight gainer shakes mixed with 1 cup of oats , natural pb and milk postworkout or water other times. I was actually getting leaner while my muscles stayed very full and round. Maybe because i ran a mile straight from the gym afterwards to home.
Do some people just need lots of carbs to have full muscles? low carbs dont doo much i'd rather go keto honestly with the extra fats im just the same. Im also 5'11 245 lbs.

OP,
are you consuming any milk products? I've never had a problem digesting oats, but even a little milk causes symptoms you describe. You might want to try cutting out dairy for a couple weeks to see if that helps. Otherwise, just try cutting out one type of food for two weeks and see if you notice improvement. If not, cut out something else. You'll really only know for sure through process of elimination.
Oh, one other idea if that's too hard is to try some digestive enzymes with your meals.
Good luck!
