I wish there was a decent gym around me. I live in Royal Oak, I was training at Lifetime in Troy and now I am at LA Fitness in Royal Oak...LA has such a better crowd than Lifetime. At Lifetime all the people there worked out in Ed Hardy hats and sat on machines.

There is a powerhouse that is owned by George in Troy AND Madison Heights (both 5 mins from my house) but you might as well call both of those gyms "pussyhouse" because they turned them into turnkey 24 hour "fitness centers". If you even try and workout semi hardcore he runs over and reminds you that its a "fitness center". Its sad when I can drop 500lbs on the ground at LA fitness deadlifting and they dont say anything but Powerhouse cries....

I work in the industry and I used to travel a lot - that being said when you get out of the Detroit area and check out some of the Golds and Powerhouse gyms in places like NY, Vegas and Cali and then you come back to Detroit its just sad.

There are great Powerhouse gyms in Michigan just too far from my house. I grew up in Holly and used to train at Fenton Powerhouse, where Justin Fargo trains and that gym is awesome. Also my friend Dan trains at the one at 16 and gratiot which is a tad far for me but I may start training with him and just join up there in the near future.

Dr. George Shanlikian, hes actually located in Livonia and owns Genesis Health institute. I have talked to him quite a few times and used to do some graphic work for him as well for his supplement line. I know a lot of guys that use him and are happy.
