The lower I went yesterday the more pain I felt in my IT band so I just squatted as low as I could yesterday without pain. I usually squat to parallel when my legs feel good. But I don't squat extremely deep free weight cuz I don't feel any benefit from it, just low back pain

id say you just shy of of where id like you to be in my opinion, but as u stated your itband was tight and im very familar with that feeling .. get it fixed, and just drop to parallel [ which is only a few more inches from where u were ...
i feel parallel or an inch lower is what makes my legs grow.. i cant go ass to ankles my hams hit .. just keep doing and experiment with different depths with lighter weights .. esp wit th itband bothering you..
drop set was a good one love those sets

Thanks bro... I was foam rolling my IT band between every set trying to loosen it up but it was just so damn tight. I have an ART guy I see out here, I'm going to have to pay him a visit soon and just start stretching more. What do you think about those monster rolling sticks? I might get one of those also to keep in my gym bag for days like yesterday

by no means was i saying your form was horrible at all, in fact i think your form and depth is better than 75% of the peeps i see on a daily basis. just for ME, i was saying, depth wise, me personally i would go deeper. Didnt know you had issues with your IT band, that does make a difference, and like i said, shit ifyour legs grow from the depth that you are doing, then you are doing it right. Jason huh range of motion, in my opinion, is shit but the dude is a house and has huge ass legs so who am i to say hes doing it wrong?
For me, i used to squat parallel and found i kept having issues with my knees, i decided to lighten up the weight and start squating deeper. after years of this i have been injury free from squats and squating 465 ATG (way more than i used to just going to parallel) thats what worked for me

For you guys that squat ATG do you use a belt a knee wraps? This day I used no gear at all. I do usually use a belt but I was just trying something different this day. I try to stay away from wraps cuz they help me personally too much. When I do wrap my knees I find I can get much much deeper because they give me so much rebound out of the hole. I think I will go back to using my belt but I am on the fence about wraps.

I don't claim to go ATG/F - but at 315 I can drop it down without knee wraps. Belt, I think it silly for me to not wear a belt... I wore a belt every workout (arms, legs, etc.) last year and my waist went from 34" to 32.18" - the belt helps keep your mid-section in and any bodybuilder is wasting an important tool not wearing one.

I for sure wear a belt and knee wraps for anything over 315
Knee wraps for sure BC I tore my right knee last year on the leg press

Thats an interesting fact about your waist coming down... I've heard that theory before but never knew anyone who could prove it. I'll post new video once my IT band is healthier and I'll make sure to drop the depth. This wont be the last time I do this drop set for sure, but the next time I'm sure I'll weight even less than 196 since I'm in contest prep mode right now. I usually keep my strength until about 3 weeks out or so though

Form is not terrible at all...perfect textbook example of a half squat drop set. Just gotta change the title of that youtube video....lol

Wearing a belt at all times in my opinion is unnecessary, during heavy sets on leg or back days, sure. But everyday, every workout? don't you think your making yourself vulnerable to injury? I feel like your core strength will suffer dramatically from wearing that belt so consistently don't you?
