I think Olympia has traditionally been about the biggest bodybuilder but I'm no expert.

Samir was not the biggest, or Dickerson certainly. Zane was seriously outmuscled by the other top contenders. Oliva lost to Arnold despite being significantly bigger pound for pound.

In the late 70's our top show was broadcast on network television sports broadcasts. Even as late as '86 and '87 our shows managed to get on ESPN. Now even our pro BB shows cannot even draw enough of an audience to make money for promoters. We have to package our shows with other pursuits like fitness, physique, bikini, et al to make events financially viable.

The 2001 Mr Olympia was shown on Fox Sports Net if I remember correctly.

I would love Branch to win the O! Not saying the others don't bust their asses but Branch really does and overcomes many genetic disadvantages. I respect that. How could a person not respect that...and reward it. mrmister...you act like he sucks....If you win the Arnold classic.....there is no way in hell you could suck in any way shape or form...period...now the thread can end!

i just want to step back and look at this from a more simple point of view...bodybuilding is like rock and roll. i heard perry farrell once say that as long as there are 2 kids in a garage playing guitars in hopes of getting laid, there will always be rock and roll. and the way i see it, as long as there is some 15 yr old kid somewhere out there in his parents basement, hitting the iron with the dream of getting big, there will be bodybuilding. all of us, who are already in the game...we may help shape it's current look...but i am far from worried about 'how BB will go on'. it will go on with us, without us or IN SPITE of us lol

I dont think its so much being soley based on large quantitiies of drugs, I think its more like the right drugs, the right dosages, the right training, the right diet, the right genetics, the right person to set this in-motion.

Oh I agree on all you said. If I took 10,000 mg of test a week I wouldn't carry nearly the size branch does. But I'm sure his doses r not child's play. I remember reading Dorian took 10,000 mg of test e every week during the off season. Is that true I have no idea but I'm sure he took more than 800 mg a week.

i believe Dorian said that drug protocol was b.s. and he never took super high doses.

yeah this coupled with he never comes into a show flat(hes always bursting and round), conditioning is always great (somteimes he might be holding more water in lower back than other times but generally speaking legs are always dry as shit), and hes a big badass dense motherfucker

Someone said in one of the radio shows that Branch will show up in shape one year and everyone else will be off and there goes aesthetics out the window -- it will be granite condition for the win!
